Microphone Doesn't Work

I went through every possible setting, Steam, Windows, etc., and everything is set to how it should be. My Mic works fine in Discord, but this game will not allow me to talk what so ever inside the game.

The Mic icon appears but nobody can hear me. After changing a few settings the Mic icon on the top left wont even appear anymore.

There are zero microphone settings inside the game which pisses me off.

So I don't know how I fixed it exactly. But I just ran through every possible voice option and changed it to my current headset. I changed the Steam settings, which were on Default, to my headset's mic. Then I changed my Windows mic settings. Disabled everything but the headset and made sure it was the only active one.

I believe the issue is from Steam being on Default for starters instead of your currently active headset or microphone. Also make sure your Windows settings aren't on Default and that all your other mic sources are disabled except for the one you're using.

I checked literally everything and nothing seemed to work.
What weirdly did seem to work, was simply pressing restore to default in the ingame settings. Dont know why but it worked

i had the same problem. i started pressing buttons and figured out that (v) is toggle mic and it fixed it for me. and sometimes antivirus thinks that its malware trying to record your mic so it cuts it off.

What I did is I just uninstalled Steam VR because maybe the mic was connected somehow to my Oculus. Idk but it worked.

A solution i found- Open "change system sounds" through windows. Then go to the recording tab and make your desired mic the default then relaunch the game

I'm not surprised. The inbuilt mic system is HORRIBLE! Sounds are very corrupted and in some cases they are WAY too loud and are not understandable at all. Instead just voice chat through the Steam app itself. If that doesn't work then I'm sorry.
