You do realize that if this happened then everyone would just speedrun multiplayer mode in just two minutes and the maps would be absolutely full of players right?
So then set it less than 8 for you scenario, and I'll set it to 8 to play with my friends at once. Doing it with the mod is unreliable as some levels just refuse to let more than 4 play at a time.
Because the game did not provide for such an opportunity - the maps were simply small and there simply wouldn’t have been enough space in some locations.
Of course, playing with friends is fun and cool, but too many people break the atmosphere of liminal spaces and feelings of anxiety. Of course, you can have real fun in 4 that Partygoers will envy, but... The essence of Backrooms is still the feeling of fear and anxiety, and no longer from the entities, but from the places themselves
And 8 slots is just that, to have fun with friends, no more, IMHO
So then why not provide that optional functionality. There's a reason when creating a server you have the player slots option as a slider. I'm not saying 8 players should be a requirement, but Why not allow UP TO 8 players. Better yet, why even offer it as a temporary update? Why add it then unadd it?
It will be too difficult to implement something like this, because... We need balance in the spawning of items and most likely it is not registered under a formula like “(default loot) * (number of players)”
And the temporary event was most likely made for fun on the eve of the holidays, when there is a sale and people enter the game simply by buying it at a discount, I think so
