game wont pop up on vr

the display will not show up on vr. i get the audio from the game on the headset, i see the game startup screen on my computer, but i still just see the steam vr screen on my headset. i am not on steam vr home. if it helps i am using a quest 1 with the quest link (cable)

Is this the first computer VR game you've ran?

Are you launching it from steam or from the Meta dashboard thing?

no this is not the first vr game i have ran. i am running it from steam technically, i have the meta app up but i have a thing installed so it just boots straight to steam because i was having issues with the other app

Then I don't have any more input, I am sad to say. I have had issues in the past where I loaded games and they'd randomly black out with the visuals on the monitor, but it was few and far between. I'd alt/tab out or do the menu popup and mess with it before going back in and seeing everything.

I fixed it! all I had to do was run it from the oculus app instead of steam vr

Oh rad! I've noticed my new Quest being picky about that stuff. First loads out of steam causing problems, but shortcut out of the Oculus app would work. I do wish it would support that FPS VR support thing on the wrist, though.
