And its main think when devs doing good VR game - VR first, Keyboard-Mouse second, not vice versa
DUDE. There. Are. Games. Where. The. Whole. Experience. Is. Based. On. The. Game. Being. In. VR.
Sure, some games provide a decent VR-Version (Phasmophobia for example), but they are not the primary target hardware and need to agree on compromises.
Dedicated Tech needs dedicated Apps, this is true for every software development.
Think about wearable devices like smartphone vs smartwatch. You really don't want to use the same app, you are using on the phone, on your watch.
Sure, most software somehow is ported, but every time with the primary target in focus (phone not watch).
That said, I have no watch, so I am not completely sure.
Back to Phasmophobia, you can clearly see, the main focus is on Mouse + Keyboard.
Sure, you can put devices on things with much more control ... but you also need to contort your wrists quite much. Opening doors is also really not that easy ...
And if you watch the trailer/gameplay of Bootstrap Island, you will see quite many interactions not possible with only one mouse.
If you are lucky, maybe a No-VR Mod will be done, similar to Half-Life Alyx, if the game gets proper attention. Right now it is just one of many VR-Projects, done for a significant smaller group of people. So I am still curious how the long term development will look like.
For the gap, I can recommend The Forest to you. Maybe the second part too, haven't played it myself yet. But I haven't played bootstrap yet, too... ;-)
I am quite interested in the rouge-like part of the game, nothing The Forest is giving you... Besides, there is no Perm-death, and you can collect your dropped loot, if you are able to.
Right? I find myself saying "this would be better in VR" often.
