How many days?
Is there a way to know without dying? I'm just popping in and doing a few days and logging out. I don't want to kill myself just to find out. But if I have to, I will.

Yeah man. Don't be afraid of the night. You got the holster. Honestly you should just practice living in the beach and hunting beasts. Open chests until you get a pistol and a knife(once you have it unlocked). There's tonnes of chests on the beach, so you'll have plenty to open. The left side of the beach is more open and easier to gather good wood. Just set a camp point near a big rock and spend your nights trying to kill the beasts.

I count to four on the powder filling. If you under charge it you won't be able to drop them in one hit. It feels like it's bats, then dogs, then lizards in the case of HP. You can one shot all of them with the pistol and a well placed shot, but underpowered shots screw things up. Just take it easy and practice the loading and watching your enemies.

As for the original question of this thread, day counter is now added to the game so you can check from the menu on which day you are on.
Also zendell37, the pistol floatiness should be fixed now, so you can go back to your killing rampage :)

I know the momentum changed on it. Definitely feels better, especially with two hand. But I just don't think I'm as accurate for whatever reason. Motivation to make a shooting range on the beach and snipe some coconuts.

Mainly I regularly killed beasts, never allowing them to increase drastically in number from day to day.

I would set up long term camp either on the beach, on the beach wall of the swamp, or at the ship. I would spend time at those places gathering wood and such to be able to camp regularly. I'd have multiple wood piles so if a beast messes up my fire, it won't burn everything I have. I would have a stash of coconuts with one or two petals peeled off so they don't roll away. Any time I traveled I'd carry the knife and musket. While traveling, I'd stop sooner than necessary to camp and I would make an actual campsite with gathered wood, starter, rocks, etc. I'd usually have enough rocks to build a circle so the fire won't spread as much. I spent several nights in caves trying to see if anything would keep the beasts out(at the time, no. Not even a line of fire). I'd stash spare pistols at campsites as fire starters because they're one handed and easy. Otherwise I'd have a lock and a rock since they spark better and easier.

It's patience more than anything. Understanding the burn rates of your wood. Figuring out health restoration with each food item. Stashing what you can and make it last.
I was wondering what day you get the bag and the book so I can shoot for those days.

Hi in my case, unlocks were: 5, 10, 15 and 20 days (bottle, musket, satchel and book) ^^

This is from a different post. My runs were either single days messing with stuff, 15 days and killing myself because of bugs, or the long runs of 32 and 68.
