hey devs ..many thanks for reply ..a toggle crouch would also be helpful as moving in crouch is somewhat inaccurate for seated mode .

I agree that the daytime is too short and it would be nice to be able to relax and explore for a bit longer - but I suppose then the night would also be longer and that would be much harder to survive? Maybe there could be a sleep mechanism which you could use once you had fought off any beasts so as to not have to sit around in the dark for too long - or maybe the night won't last as long as the dark - by having an auto-sleep mode after you fight off the beasts?

The patch for making the daytime longer is now live! Let us know what you think.
As for toggle crouch, it's something we would like to add but it will probably take longer.

after update ..ten minutes of daylight is still way to short ..1 hr min or option to adjust day night cycle settings and option to sleep or make camp for night ...game has so much potential as survival sim .thanks for ur time .

The length of the day is much better now.
This way you can enjoy exploration without so much stress

Nice, haven't had time to try the patched game yet - how long is the day now do you estimate?

I'm terrible with time estimates, but I would say it's maybe 30%-50% longer than before.

I'm excited to see what the island holds, I'm really enjoying it so far!

Just tried the game - maybe devs can help - days are now nearly twice as long? Would still prefer more time, but much better now. The nights seem same length - that's great, the nights definitely should not be longer, lol

Still I'm not that fond of the game, I was too slow making a fire and died night 2. Not going to start over again today. Being able to start at the highest number of days you survived would be great.

just watching the broadcasts - part of what it needs is some kind of ruck sack to carry things - having to walk out - grab two sticks walk back drop them walk out grab two sticks - being able to cooks several foods and carry them with you would be nice, or being able to grab more wood - even in real life you can stack a bundle in the crook of one arm and grab more with the other.
i really like the looks of it but i know i hate being rushed in games so probably wouldn't like this one for long. But something to keep an eye on in the future maybe.

My concern in this whole thing, and why I've not made the jump after having it on my wishlist, is that these same complaints were brought up during the demo months ago.

When most of the feedback for the demo was "Days are too short" then I have to ask why it waited until release and reviews started hitting with negative. Did you hope to just ignore feedback on the gameplay cycle and day/night? Even commenting that the darkness is going to stay a physical enemy and you are going to keep the short days by design? Because I'm really concerned about the precedent that sets here for the future of this EA and future features. And yet, here we are shortly after "release" and instantly a patch goes in to double day time.

Do we have a roadmap or something of planned features, planned expansion of gameplay?

Is this game going to only be 'get food/water/fight through the night/get food/water/fight through the night with new enemies? I like a roguelike but those work better for platform/heavy difficulty non-FPS/quick games where you build up special abilities, perks, etc. Not sure of the longevity with a VR Survival to just basically be constantly dying/restarting. No inventory, no building, nothing except the three part loop non-stop, and developer reception to concerns and feedback: it's really kind of worrisome as to what to expect a year from now.

Hey everybody, we hear you loud and clear!
I can confirm you that we are working on a patch to make the daytime longer, so that the game feel less stressful.
The Early Access version of Bootstrap Island is not content complete and will receive new areas, monster and items with upcoming updates. However, compared to the demo that we released last year, the EA version has much more content (areas, items, animals), new systems, mechanics etc. Some things we have been working on are not instantly obvious and you have to explore to find them.
As for running, there is a setting in the in-game menu for toggling sprint, so that you can switch to running with just one button press and don't have to hold down the stick.

Hey just wanted to say - you formed it as "longer days will make the game less stressful" but it's not the stress that's the problem. With the day cycle so short you simply don't have the time to do ANYTHING other than eat and get wood. Zero time for exploring. That makes the game super shallow, that is the main issue here.

indeed ! The game would just earn a postive review from me , by removing the bloody tasmianian tigers (?) Even no object, just walk , look at things, touch here and there, is more fun than what it is at the moment.

There is lots of time for exploring now imo!

The game gives enough hints that staying in one place is suicide. Don't waste time gathering stuff everyday.

I setup a camp day one with coconuts for the next day and firewood so when dawn breaks, I can drink/eat and move on. There is always enough stuff around to start a fire, that's the easy part.

Once you forget about establishing a permanent camp and treat camps as a temporary thing, you'll be finding alsorts of cool stuff!

Edit: I notice the poster above me only has 0.3 hours played. That's what? One or two days of game time? I hope the devs don't make changes based on feedback from players that haven't even left the beach.
