i did have an activision account linked to my steam, but when i did that i didn't even have a phone and i don't remember putting in a fake number either lol.
edit, im pretty sure that this is a blizzard only thing, and the only reason yall are required to enter your numbers is due to you linking your blizzard account to steam, which will then override steams own security systems.
steam already has login protection, which is what the phone number is needed for, so that's why i didn't have to put my phone number in.
Some wrong and some old news. Earlier you did'nt have 2 step log in and verification to protect your account from hackers.
1. Battle.net and ACTVI use an authenticator app on mobile phone to verify that you are
you. It is an option to use 2 step login. You dont need to.
2. Phone number is to protect your account, like steams 2 steps login and verification (email)
3. Activision and Battle.net has a 2 step verification through an authenticator app.
4. You link steam and/or battle.net to Activision account. Not as you wrote.
5. Steam has login protection with 2 step loging - user email, password and then they send
you an email to registred email on account and you have to verify this in 1 min.
Mobil phone on steam is optional..
these people are just trying to link their activision accounts which isn't necessary to play the game.
You have to link this game to your activision account, the paid version. Not the free.
I had to link it when I bought the game in des-22 and started up.
On Battle.net you had to Link your account to Activision account to be able to play MW2019. Dont know about this game, but I guess it is the same.
On battle.net you need to eneble two step login. Then you need a mobile phone for their autenticator for step two. If you login on same pc all the time, it is only one step.
But to login to steam or Activision, you dont need a phone. Only email. Activision have a two step, but thats optional. Steam is also one step, if you login on same pc every time.
Two step login on steam and activision, is to protect your account.
that's a good idea, now i try other platform’s network to connect.
because the game mandate players offer phone number.
