He's a decent actor and is definitely >physically< acted well, but his voice actor is infinitely better in the original. He sounded completely out of his mind and convinced he was righteous in his goal in the OG.
I wouldn't say the new team is being held back any more than any other iteration which did the same "oooh we can't kill le big bad" ♥♥♥♥. It's a trope, but it isn't so much T141 being cucked as it is just bad writing trying too hard to focus on the melodrama of not killing the main villian while also not providing enough spectacular setpieces to distract the players. I guarantee if this game would be liked way more if we saw better and more graphic depictions of Makarov's terrorism.
If we got more violent depictions of the Verdansk poisoning (maybe a Police Officer/Citizen perspective) with more civvie kills, Makarov might've actually been more threatening. 90% of the time New Makarov just sounds like a edgy guy without much point because his words aren't backed with impactful enough scenes. We get quick flashes of "le bad things he did" but we're never forced to dwell on the horrific ♥♥♥♥ he does and gets away with.
Ah, I see what you mean now. That's fair to say that Price is a bit more impartial in this game and that's a pretty dumb decision in hindsight. I was just saying it was a trope to "Character lets villain get away in the past, lives to regret it." Price has been a mixed bag in the new series tbh. I really liked him in MW19 and felt he was ok in MW2 but he's not great as a character in MW3 so far.
I was moreso referring to the entire group. The group in the reboot is fairly competent and manages things fine enough, most of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is done by price. Both games seem to be trying to achieve the "Price is losing it" thing but for some reason the numbering is all off. MW19 feels like MW(2007), MW2 feels like a 1.5 of MW2(2009) and mw(2007), and MW3 is essentially the rest of MW2(2009)'s story beats. I get the feeling Price will probably get even more unhinged/careless in the next one. So either he'll improve or falter dramatically. Hopefully the former but judging by Activision's competence it's a 25/75 shot.
and this was said before too, but they still did a better job with makarov than they did with tf141
Exactly! I like the new team but god are the story shortcomings blatant in this one.
