Edit: I've managed to solve it, if those who can link their Steam account to their Activision account. You want to go to Activision.com, and then register/sign in, and then go to your profile on the top right. Go to basic info, and change your Activision ID. Changing this seemingly seemed to fix my issue as I can now access the game and it's contents. Best of luck to those who still have this issue.

I had same problem when trying to change my name in-game but I just did it on the website. It said I had no tokens in-game but on their website I still had 2 tokens left.

Go to account and select Activision account, then select “Change Display Name.” You should have at least one rename token, but you might have others from other Activision Blizzard games connected to your account that offered rename tokens. You can also earn an additional rename token every six months.

such an idiotic move form em, i have a steam name but they rather took the nickname i had when i was 15, that's a long while ago. Just let me have the one i have now on steam instead
