I switched from steam to battle.net to fix launch crash.
I asked for a refund on steam and bought the game on battle.net. It now opens without crashing. Battle.net required me to turn on secondary login in services.msc to start automatically on startup to access the game. So you can try that if you are still using steam to try and fix the issue. If not, I tried everything else when I had it on steam and nothing fixed the crashing at launch. I tried updated drivers, older drivers, antivirus off, background applications off, run as admin, etc... etc... etc....... Nothing worked. It must just be some sort of steam issue.

It's a choice of either.

i did the same and actually got to play the game, shouldn't have had to completely switch applications just to play the same game

No, that is how refunds work. They go to steam wallet funds.

I agree. Someone really screwed up on this. Either steam, or whoever is on the call of duty side that is in touch with steam.

Steam gave me two options. Refund to my steam wallet or the credit card I purchased the game under. It allowed me to refund to my credit cards.

No.
They give you a choice and have as long as I can remember.

I'd like to further mention some things about playing with it on battle.net. I currently have my wallpaper engine running while playing. I have the NVIDIA overlay while playing (and have been able to record). I have my 1060 slightly overclocked while playing. I have my antivirus on while playing. I am just saying, I have the recommended specs for this game and I have other stuff going on in the background while playing on battle.net and have had no crashes, graphics issues, or any game breaking issues. Hell, my Ethernet box isn't even working so I am currently using my desktops wifi to play. Everything is running smoothly. Its running better than Call Of Duty World War 2.

I find it hard to believe Battlenet fixes issues when the last few CODs have had more issues than ever on Battlenet

I fixed my steam launch crash by excluding the entire game folder "CoD HQ" in Window's Virus and Threat Protection Security. Manage Settings and scroll to the bottom and you'll see Exclusions. Select Add Folder from the drop dowwn and add the game folder CoD HQ located in your Steam Common folder. Verify files in Steam once if you need to, then restart your PC. Game should load after that.
