Surely this game is worth it for under £10.
I don't care about the DRM or any of the other crybaby BS that gets talked about.

Is this game worth it purely from a game play perspective?

I was a day one guy an I loved it back then, performance was a bit rough but still really enjoyed it was something a little new to the Monster Hunter style of game while still being similar enough.

Had high hopes there would be some Monster Hunter competition that it would get updates and a sequel but here we are. Although the Switch 2 is getting Wilds Hearts S which doesn't seem to have any EA affiliations so I'm hoping that might give it a new lease of life, I plan on buying it again just in hopes it gets developed more lol.
These kind of games are really up my alley, so I'm also curious if it's worthwhile. I see a lot of reviews say it runs very poorly. Has there been any patches to address this or they just gave up on the game?

From everything I've read just skimming comments people posting today say its still stuttery, like the game can run at 60+ FPS but something to do with maybe texture streaming or something causes the game to still stutter. Its not had any updates in years as EA pretty much abandoned it but I'd say its worth a play on a Sale if you like these styles of games.

Last patch was 2023, you can filter recent reviews and see that it's still crashing for a lot of people or performing poorly.

Have a spare EA key if you want. There is conflict with onedrive that can cause crashing if you're on Win 11, there are post on how to address it. Game also does shader compilation on the fly, so you will experience stuttering initially, for me I barely notice any stuttering after completing the prologue. If you're on a 8GB card or less best avoid using high textures. Other than that, played the game on two different setups, no real performance problems and crashing, not one crash.

Been one of my favorite games since it released. Had some slight performance issues but nothing that was that bad or disrupted my fights. The game is absolutely worth it while on sale.

And as a parry-lover, no weapon in any game has been more fun than the bladed wagasa in this game.

Right on. I appreciate the info. My specs are well over what I need, but even then that can mean nothing. Such are the ways of PC gaming. I'll give it a go. Worst case, I'm out ten bucks. I've made dumber purchases. I appreciate the key offer, but you should hang on to it. Never know if a friend might want to play or something. =)
game stutters no matter what you do regardless of shader compilation. it stutters on a 9800x3d and 7900 xtx. not to mention the already low frame rate in comparison to the visuals provided at 3440x1440p.

Me and friend bought in the sale and are playing on stable AM4 win10 and AM5 win11 systems, no crashes. There is minor stuttering on load and traversal but nothing bad enough to affect combat once you're playing for 20min or more. Co-op works well, make a lobby with the person most behind in story and play seamlessly.

I had massively more enjoyment playing this than any newgen monster hunter game. Can't believe I let reviews & redditors put me off of this for so long.

I have the game on ea play and while it was performing a bit bad at the start. It later on became better as i continued playing
I'm coming from a place of bias because I got these for cheap and I run my games on 1080. I haven't had any performance issues and in terms of straight gameplay I think it improves on my last monster hunter experience which was World.

The custom camp makes it easier to get back into a fight, the karakuri can get you to where the monster's going faster than the monster and you automatically restock on health potions which are all quality of life improvements that monster hunter just doesn't provide you with.
I'd say it's worth it at $10. You'll have fun and you'll get some hours out of it. There's a lot of content, upgrades and progression if that's what you're most into with a "monster hunter-like" Multiplayer servers are thin but not dead, so if you're looking for fun multiplayer you'll need a friend. But considering how badly it runs, and how ugly it looks at minimal settings to get workable framerate, definitely not worth more than $10.
