You don't actually need to stay in the air for nearly as long because you can cancel the attached claw attacks into eachother now.
I can get through to the finisher move a lot quicker and I actually spend more time in combat with the monster rather than the one weapon turning the game into rodeo simulator.
If you do that, and use Claw Expert, you do 2 Aerial Combos and can latch on at Full Gauge. Its a matter of 10 seconds.
Yes, you cant be in the air indeffinitely anymore and have to be more strategic with the weapon, but After a few hours of playing with it, it is actually for the better.
CB before this patch were Braindead easy. Nothing was actually a challenge. Now, the more I play since patch, the more I am liking the changes cause you actually have difficulty with the CB now.
The Issue with the Finisher not hitting sometimes is and was annoying, even if you would hit a Monster, sometimes the damage just wont register and you get robbed of damage. Before the patch it was a big deal cause you almost never really used the Finisher, but when you did it would miss half the time. Now you use it so much more often, that it doesnt really matter. or seem to happen as often.
The Patch made it so you actually have to have skill with the CB, instead of anyone being able to pick it up and play it, ignoring any difficulty the game has..
what enemy did you face? if it's weak and slow enemy it probably half-true.
for agile and hard hitting enemies, this nerf-to-the-ground-turned-into-junk CB can't be use anymore, do a few evasions or getting even a single hit would destroy our chance to do finisher. This weapon definitely isn't playable anymore, what's the point of CB if the user can't stay in the air?? ♥♥♥♥ dev or whoever come up with this bulsit.
It most certainly is playable still..
I spent my entirety yesterday Fighting every Volatile and Deeply Volatile Kemono with the new CB, tweaking my build around to adjust for the new way they did things with them.
It is true that getting hit once basically kisses your chances of getting your Finisher off goodbye, and you cant do Much Aerial Evasions, but it is by no means 'Not playable'
since the nerf I have actually beaten my Record time on Killing Deeply Volatile Kemono, I have learned not to rely on being in the Air to avoid Attacks and learned when to and when not to commit to the Finisher
the ONLY attack that actually drains the Gauge is the Rightclick, the Attack that turns into the Finisher.
So, if you avoid using that for as long as Possible, you can still stay in the Air fairly long.
While I do admit the Nerf was a little too much and they need to reduce the amount the attacks drain the Gauge, or make the gauge not drain from anything else instead, it is closer to being a balanced weapon than before the Patch.
♥♥♥♥, even the Murakumo died in under 4 mins against the Clawblade with new patch..
CB now actually have a learning curve and you cant just be braindead with them anymore and have to think of when and how to commit.
Yeah you must have godly skills and superb reflexes, and I probably the braindead person you mention. I got my ass handed to me facing Murakumo because of this 5h1tty nerf.
Having a leeway staying in the air is not just about cheesing or easy way to hunt monster, it's about fun and enjoyments too. This playstyle is very unique and satisfying before, now is very limiting and punishing, like the OP said even missing a hit (which is common in harder monster) will slap us in the face, and this new CB become useless easily.
I'm not just using CB, I build and use another weapon too like katana or bow, they're fun to use too, depends on the monster I would change my weapon, but my favorite was CB, and now it's not viable anymore. they might as well just remove this 5h1t than leaving it in the broken state like this.
Well I wouldnt call anyone Braindead as a person.. Its just the Playstyle of the Pre-Patch CB. You didnt really ahve to think much about what to do, just attack, get in the Air, and attack some more, then Ult after 3 mins and repeat. if it wasnt dead then, it would be next time..
My point that I was just trying to make is that, while it significantly changed the way to play the CB, they are still a Viable weapon. It just takes some Adjusting to the new Playstyle they now bring.
I was a big fan of the Aerial part myself, and am sad to see the ability to stay in the Air for long disappear, but I am liking the Hit and run tactics that the new CB seem to encourage..
No this is not "new playstyle", more like "limited and half a55 playstyle". Also if you're talking about "hit and run", no need to nerf, even the original CB will forced us to do that when facing deeply volatile, I mean for casual player, probably not you.
Well, have fun if you can enjoy it, for me I will wait for the re-balance(if any), I'm not masokis enough to face new content with this 5h1t. I wonder which one they'll break next, maybe handcannon since it seems "braindead" too, can cheese most monsters.
Heh.. Well everyone has their own Preferences. I mean, I get hit a lot and screw up sometimes myself and die to the Kemono, Im by no means one of the Best in the game, at least I don't believe I am..
I just played CB for about 90% of the time I have in the game, only ever used the Katana as the starting weapon until I got CB unlocked.
I main the weapon, so it was a case of I *had* to get good with them, and I have everything invested into CB, so with this patch I *had* to make them work, so I forced myself through the pain of learning how to adapt to the Patch..
thats the only reason I am here saying things like It is still 'playable'. It just takes a little effort to learn and adapt to the new patch, if you are willing to learn.
But as I said before, everyone as their own preference, so if someone doesnt want to use new CB, then thats their prerogative.
