So about that parasol parry
It might just be me, but the parry window for the parasol feels... very small. It's a fun weapon, but I find myself struggling to full understand where the parry window is in the animation. Is it right as something is supposed to hit? It sometimes doesn't feel like that.

it is. even smaller when the game connection is not willing. you have something called parry expertise that helps, but globally the feature is broken. one day they'll do something about it i guess.

Ah, so it's a feature that's not completely working as intended, I see. Is that why it feels weird even in singleplayer?

Regardless, I'll probably stick with the weapon anyways, as when I get into the groove, this weapon feels so good it's worth the pain lol

The parry window begins right at the start of the animation, and yes, it's very short. You can get a skill that increases it by up to 50%, which helps, but you still need to master it yourself if you're ever going to pull it off consistently.

I'll keep that in mind even if that skill is supposedly busted from what the previous person said. It's a very fun weapon, so I want to maximize what I can do with it for sure!

you referring to "instinct parry" ? if yes
its not broken - it does indeed work
Kimahn Mar 12, 2023 @ 12:44am
No, the whole parry thing I meant. I made a wagasa from far left for parry instinct to peacock ( the full life dmg and def boost, dunno the name in english) then dragon for another 30%, gone to autoblock, salvaging all the dmg on block i could find and finished on raw dmg tiger to get decent with it.

You can try with the far right monkey one if you want to feel the parry style with 50% instinct.

Imho it's way too much investment, just blocking the very obvious and dodging the rest is a lot safer.

But... That's not what i do so I can't blame you if you want to try dumb things :p

I'm regularly getting checked by two hit combos, aoe, general crappy collision... In a game where all the mobs can two hit you this is really not the way to make it easy.

you saying "the whole parry thing " is a globally broken feature ?

which is not true :steamfacepalm:

if english isnt your first language - great source for confusion

im running 30% parry lower right corner dragon weapon -

30% dodge master parry window
15 % destruction art
15 % desperation
18 %& on stroke : fury
9 % parry fury boost

i have 10 % more desperation on talismanes
and 19 % more destruction art

i eat only defensive food for 10% extra defenses

damage is good
parrry is good

heh. if it works for you. playing deseperation with a front tank weapon is not my style but if you successfully hunt and do not take 20mn per mob you're golden i guess. also min maxing is more efficient but that doesn't change the fact that parry does not match the animation of the weapon, has an awul lot of mechanical counters and is subject to lag punish.

You can also take a different route to the same weapon, going far left first which has another +20% (water weapon), so 50% total.

I personally run with 50% Parry Expertise (increases the Parry window with 50%) and i find it medium difficult to parry, tbh the hardest part isn't hitting the parry window. It's keeping your frigging camera on the kemono so that you can actually see when the attack is coming, blind parrying is hard ^^

As for ping/lag issues I have never managed to play with someone else as Host so cant say how ping factors in, i always have to host.

Also the parry window starts from the "moment" you trigger the animation, note that you can cancel out of pretty much all attacks/combo's with the Wagasa EXCEPT the Parry itself. So you better not miss that Parry when you hit it cuz then your leaving yourself open ^^

Just to add to this, you can perform a light attack after parrying to allow you to parry again much sooner than the normal recovery animation would allow. This can really save you when a monster delays an attack and psyches you out.

It's a hard-to-master weapon with a small parry window, but really satisfying when you get some good parries in. I like to learn how to use by exploring the map and fighting the small weak kemono, or the bigger kemono that I previously fought and just trying to parry them without worrying about deaths or mission timers. With some of the harder monsters, there are times when dodging is best. If mess up a parry but have a bit of time to fix it, you can go from the parry to a light and parry or from parry into a light and then a dodge. I love how the Bladed Wasaga is improving my observation and reflexes
