Poison not proccing

I've fought both weak to poison, and resistant to poison kemonos, and I've never seen a poison dot apply. I'm swapping between the twilight bow and katana with the 5% poison wielder. I fought a Gritdog, which has 5 star weakness to poison, and saw a purple aura appear around it, but didn't see any dots, and it disappeared after 3-5 seconds. It also took a while of attacking before that aura appeared, way too long for just those few measly seconds. Is poison bugged, or just basically useless? I've gotten sleep to proc on many different hunts, using only a 2% sleep wielder.

I have a 3% poison wield on a talisman and it procs with my katana and last fairly about 15sec I think. I it seems to have a 3sec per dmg tick and can be noticable if you stop attacking, it has the same dmg color as a normal dmg which is white.

I procced it several times, and im swinging around a giant, slow as sin greatsword.

For me poison procs about once or twice per fight, but I noticed that poison procs differently depending on the monster. Sometimes they get the normal poison thing, but sometimes it procs, stuns the monster for a few seconds, then it goes away and the monster returns to normal. This might be wrong as I haven't been paying too much attention.

Maybe poison is treated like an "element" and weakness would mean just higher dmg or higher chance of crit?

Yea it's baffling me atm, restarted the game incase it was bugged, and re-fought Gritdog. The purple aura appeared twice throughout the fight, but there were never any damage ticks. I must have been proccing poison since obtaining the twlight bow because i got the achievement for applying 20 statuses, but like I've said, I've never seen any damage ticks.

Just fought Lavaback and it's the same story there, purple aura, no damage ticks. I'm wondering if it's just a ui bug I'm experiencing.

Lavaback gets stunned when you poison him.

Hmm, interesting design choice. Thanks for the feedback. Personally, I wish it was your standard DoT all the time, as I lean towards DoT playstyles ><

If you play in multiplayer, your hunter will also crow about their poison proccing, so you can keep an ear out for that, too.
