Not sure if the game even has PS-style buttons. It might if it would recognize that I have anything connected.
Maybe that's what Haru meant. It did work, never thought to check because I've never had to actually go there for the... 5-ish years I've had this PC. I tested MHW before I saw the notification here and made that change, and MHW just worked, same as every other game. After changing the setting, the controller light turned on in Wind Hearts, and everything seemed functional.
Unfortunately there don't seem to be PS-style button icons, which is disappointng. Worse, it runs so poorly even on minimal settings that getting the controller working is a very minor victory. Basically like an unoptimized Switch game, after everything is turned down.
Thanks for the help, though. Hopefully the game becomes playable before my refund window closes.
This seems like a nice app, but it also seems to do many of the same things as steam input, which is free with Steam. Even if it could trick Wild Hearts to recognize my PS4 controller as what it is, I'd effectively be adding $7 to an already overpriced game to workaround an issue that other games don't have. :/
Have you personally confirmed this to work? Because I'm getting very different results, and some admittedly quick googling (gettin sleepy) shows I'm not the only one.
Wired, with steam input off, resulted in the controller not working, though it did light up. I saw some mentions of disabling steam input through big picture settings, which I tried, but that changed nothing. I don't use big picture anyway, and it seems like game settings should override any general settings.
Wired, with steam input on, resulted in the controller working, but with Xbox icons. And also me being stuck with a wired controller.
Wireless, with steam input on or off, resulted in the controller working, but still with Xbox icons.
This seems like a Wild Hearts-specific issue. If it's this inconsistent about detecting controllers, and that's the only way to determine which icons to use, I may be stuck until they acknowledge and address this.
Offering the option to select which icons are used, which was done with MHW and MHR, would work, but they didn't.
Appreciate the suggestions, though.
