I think in both instances it’s habit dictating preference. Personally I know for any action in a game that requires either last minute input or a quick reaction be it dodge or party I am faster on the thumb may it be with the spacebar or a mouse side button. Moving my pointer finger to C takes “thinking time”. This is most likely due to years of being used to that. If you are used to using your pointer finger in these events I like to assume this “thinking time” gets negated. At least that’s my theory
Edit: To add to this also for me moving pointer finger, middle or ring finger means not having a finger on WAD at all times. If I wanted to move immediately right after dodging it takes that much longer. Also if you wanted to do directional dodging but use your pointer finger to dodge how do you dodge right? I mean I know that there’s definitely likely a way to do it but for me it’s just that much inconvenient
Edit2: ignore the last couple sentences. My 3am brain didn’t read properly
I think that’s what i am gonna do in the morning probably change the game profile and rebind side buttons to function keys
For controller users, its the opposite.
I use keypads (Azeron now) since many years, which is perfect for me, as I also cannot get used to WASD with a keybord itself.
It's all a matter of practise and getting used to.
