Go under his back legs, he can't 180.
I agree the amount of tracking is really intense, but I don't think it's that atrocious. I find the combat and challenge in this game a lot more rewarding, and that's coming from a Bladed Wagasa user, simply one of the hardest weapons to use, at least in early game. I feel you about the whole tracking; I too have over 1k hours in MH (MHW, MHR PC & Switch, 3DS), but we have to start separating this from Monster Hunter, it's a different game that requires different stance and approach.
Good for melee, I typically use bow. Gotta dodge and pray.
Yeah, I know it's different... I'm just kind of frustrated... ^^"
And no, I don't storm in villy nilly and pray for the best... I try to look for openings, than I get an attack in... suddenly, the opening is gone, I'm to clese to the monster and will dodge his next attack only by some miracle.
So far, I tested out every weapon except the bow and now I'm stuck with the hammer.
But it doesn't matter which weapon I use, since it's hard to dodge attacks while just running around like a headless chicken without attacking.
The Katana is a bit too much repositioning, the Nodachi eats stamina, I can't be bothered to learn every delayed attack to make the Umbrella work... so the Hammer it is, since it doesn't rely on a special meter that is up as soon as the monster leaves and the stamina management is kinda ok... I think... I really wish I could see the bar clearly.
But yeah, I try giving it time.
It's still fun when the monster is exhausted and I get like 3-4 full hammer combos in, basically ending the fight since this weapon is so overtuned.
But everything else till that point is healing while chipping away the health of the monster.
The only reason I get hit is if I'm ether hunting new enemies or trying to use parasol right now, so learning parry while dodging half the stuff.
It's not every single attack that you need to utilise i frames for. I've just finished fighting bunny and his ranged attacks are easily dodgeable without i frames while close melee ones can at times be outrun.
I think the worst offender out of intial 4 monsters so far been Kingtusk as he requires knowing where and when to dodge as well as good usage of gates abilitty to block his charges.
Didn't find a way to dodge charge so far.
Tiny stamina bar that won't give you any information? It's split into two chunks. You can slide dodge twice. You can see it not refilling if you're sprinting around. You can see your abilities consuming it. It gives you all the information you need, mate. Climbing is wonky, though, for sure.
As for the tracking - no, you're just bad at this game. Use the spring. Use the box. They're there for a reason. And stop lying about MH, the monsters track like gangbusters in MH, it's one of the most persistent complaints we've had about it for the duration of the series.
What is this, a comedy post?
If you're ranged, then put the bow on your back, run and slide, you have more iframes that way.
i frame are mostly non existent on dodge or too tricky for me to attack and dodge quickly like in a MH game, i guess i will probably play bow until i'm geared enough before trying to take some of thoses kemono in melee...
