More Performance Issues Potential Fixes?
As many of us know, this game has some of the worst optimization any recent release has seen. That being said if you are able to get past the fps gate it can be a very fun and addicting game. Out of all the fixes I have looked around for in steam discussions, youtube videos, and reddit posts, here are the ones I have chosen to play with along with my system specs and average fps.

***Average fps 60-90 on all maps and during most kemono fights***

[IN-GAME SETTINGS]

3840 x 2160 resolution ***Lower resolutions will have higher more stable FPS***
Upscaling - Enabled
VSync - Enabled
FPS Limit - 120 ***I have nvidia control center limit game fps to 90, explanation below***
Textures - High
Model Quality - Medium
Texture Filtering - Low
Particle Effects - Medium
Procedural Density - Low
Shadows - Low
Reflections - Low
Global Illumination - Low
Clouds - High
Anti-Aliasing - TAA
Motion Blur - Disabled
Ambient Occlusion - Disabled
Depth of Field - Disabled

[Nvidia Control Panel Settings]

Add "Wild Hearts" exe to your Program Settings Tab then configure the following settings:

Anisotropic Filtering - 4x
Max Frame Rate - 60fps to as high as your rig can stably run. I chose 90fps for stability and smoother gameplay when the game allows. Any higher and I feel it's unecessary given how the game WANTS to run.
Texture Filtering - Anisotropic Sample Option - ON
Texture Filtering - Quality - HIGH PERFORMANCE
Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization - ON
Threaded Optimization - ON
Vertical Sync - ON

*** TURN OFF OVERLAY FOR EA LAUNCHER *** -thanks to tpagetenor for the tip

[My PC Specs]

Intel i7 12700k - Overclocked to 5.0Ghz all core
EVGA 3070ti FTW3 - Undervolted with +1250Mhz Overclock
Corsair Vengeance 32GB 5600Mhz

Temps while playing are around 60c average with 77c max for CPU, GPU is 50c average and 56c max (gpu hotspot is 59c average and 65c max)
CPU usage is only at 73% which tells me either the patch did in fact fix cpu optimization OR that my bottleneck is my 3070ti as it is at 99% usage.

[Conclusion]

Anywho, I hope this helps anyone who is having trouble running the game and is able to alleviate or maybe even fix performance problems. I've got nearly 72 hours on my save and truly enjoy what the game has to offer. I wish the game the best and quickest optimization so more people can enjoy the game. Also a reduced price because 70USD is a pretty high gate of entry. The game has heart and I can see it being successful enough to maybe not rival Monster Hunter, but coexist with is and other monster hunting games so that they can ALL IMPROVE.

is there any patch incoming next week? do we have any informations?
hogl Feb 26, 2023 @ 2:38am
The problem is elsewhere, yesterday with all options at minimum and in 1080p I had 50 fps constant.
PC put to sleep.
Game restarted today: 20-35 fps and "slomo".
Objectively nothing has changed in my environment since yesterday.

I think all the attempts by players to tweak their settings is a placebo effect and randomly related to the game or PC restart.

This game is completely broken technically ...

@Dee - So far nothing. Aside from rumours of DLSS and FSR coming in a future patch, we have no idea if they will even be fixing any of the potential CPU bottleneck issues that some people are having. I had seen a few people on reddit mention that theres going to be essentially a "title update" in march that we'll see more kemono, a new area, and at that point hopefully optimization, but if I'm being honest it's a whole lot of copium out there for anyone who really wants to enjoy the game.

@hogl - I agree, mostly think that the problem is the cpu bottleneck and somewhere in their coding. For example their audio duplication and stacking that caused CPU's to bug out unless you switch to 7.1/5.1 audio. I think those issues still persist in one form or another. Thankfully yes, the audio doesn't desync, stack, or cut out completely anymore, but the performance issues that came with it seem to have stuck around. I've been messing with my CPU clock speeds and there doesn't seem to be any real correllation between higher clock speeds and performance gains. GPU wise I'm maxed out in terms of usage and I can't OC my speeds any higher because It's not stable. The worst frames I get is when I'm in a snowstorm on a particular map. Snow + Kemono attacks drops me to around 45-50 as the lowest frames I have experienced with my current settings. Otherwise when I'm in hunts and even in multiplayer I am 60-90fps. You're not wrong saying that the game is technically broken. I just wish the Devs were more communicative about what the hell they're doing and if they have seen any bit of success with thier "performance patch" aside from fixing the audio bugs.

Game is good, engine is not refined. Asset swap, lighting and reflections haven't been implemented properly.
tpagetenor Feb 26, 2023 @ 10:28am
My 2 cents, everyone's probably already done this, but turn off BOTH in-game overlays. Took me from choppy garbage to near perfect gameplay. I haven't applied any other tweaks/fixes.

@ArcticWolf2110 - Yeah the lighting and reflections flickering can be quite bothersome and idk if its just auto exposure but coming out of caves into the sunlight feels a bit too realistic in that I am completely blinded hahaha I'm not knowledgable enough of asset swapping to know what that entails but hey at this point we can add it to the list of problems anyways

Yes they are still working on Performance and other fixes follow the twitter or look at the twitter post.

@ttv/TheoneTruess - I checked the playWildHearts twitter this morning and didn't see anything but I may have missed a post about more upcoming fixes and optimization since I haven't had my coffee yet.

@tpagetenor - you know I hadn't turned off the EA overlay haha I missed my 2 cents on this one as well apparently but I "think" it may have helped my fps by turning that overlay off. I still have steam overlay on and I stayed a solid 80-90fps in a multiplayer onyxshard hunt just now in Harugasumi way.

The game constantly keeps swapping between different variants of the same asset/foliage. This usually happens when LOD hasn't been configured properly. The constant swapping between low and high polygon count assets is what makes the game so very stuttery. BTW, its also not good for your system either. Hopefully they fix it first.

Now, reflections or I better say screen space reflections is overdone. The reflections are way too intense. Last and not the least is lighting. It is the worst one here, the game tries to constantly change saturation like crazy.

Thanks for beta testing lmao !
Judarian Gaming Feb 26, 2023 @ 3:24pm
lol i just checked twitter. it looks like they all clocked out after that patch that was suppose to fix stuff.
Bucherebis Feb 26, 2023 @ 5:42pm
Not a single time in the entire gaming history there was a patch that increased performance. Yet, everyone still expects one whenever a game is released with garbage framerate or severe stutters.

It never happened and never will. Release day performance is the final one.

I actually just maxed out my settings to see how bad it'd be. I'm still getting a solid 40 fps? There has to be some setting hidden in the config files thats doing this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

The performance in this game is all down to how the models and textures are loading in. They didnt optimize and the engine just doesnt handle it well. They had the same problem with the game Strangers of Paradise.

Why would you turn on double Vsync in-game and Nvidia CP...
