Question Regarding Combat
Looking at picking this game up for a family member but concerned about how the combat works/feels and the level of difficulty that the combat is.

Could anyone give some examples of similar combat systems or difficulty levels.

Game looks lovely and the story looks very intriguing, but if the combat is too unforgiving or Souls/MH like, it would be a pass for them.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

theres a setting to make combat super easy im assimung it increases dodge window and damage done but its mostly hack and slash with a couple moves you have to dodge when they're red

This game has the ability to tweak almost every aspect of the combat difficulty (and even the option to skip a combat altogether at the press of a button.)

It's nothing like Souls. On Normal difficulty, a player of average skill may very possibly never die. Combat is incredibly simple and is comprised of a single five-hit combo and dodges with occasional skill use. Only people who aren't good with action games would need to lower the game to easy.
Thank you for your replies! Much appreciated!

The combat phases of the game may be the biggest disapointment for me... The character is too slow, you have to wait 1-2 secs between each actions before doing an other (when you launch a skill, when you dodge...and it's worse when she gets hit...like 4 secs to be able to do something and oooooh you're surrounded and get hit again...), the camera is horrible always blocked in a corner or ot facing the good direction, when it fixes itself when you execute an ennemy it's really annoying cause you have to get it in the good direction again... the lock system is awful when you're fighting several ennemies, which attack all at the same time, the basic mob are just pissing you off when they launch their almost instant teleport attack right when you just did a dodge, so bim in your face, again an again. The cooldown of the skills are way too long meaning you don't use them more than 1-2 times in a fight... that's ridiculous. The upgrades are pretty lame too... All the mechanics of the combat system needs to be reworked with a patch, it's really painful in the long term. Been playing on hard difficulty and it seems that the gameplay is really not fit for it.

I understand now why they put the option to skip the fights, they know it needs work.

The only problem with combat is running away your still locked on and the camera doesn't follow.

Yeah, the cooldowns got me. The first time I died it, besides just me being low thanks to environmental damage, I had a few bugs on me and the guys that jump forward, and one that shoots arrows. My skills were seemingly locked in cooldown so all I could do was jump attack, which lasted for a bit but not long enough. :(

And the camera thing is a whole other issue as well. I really, truly, wish they'd stop taking control of the camera in and out of combat. I try to avoid unraveling the mobs or using the heal bulb because I keep getting nailed right after, or with the healing bulb during use.
Combat felt a lot better to me after I changed the right stick (camera) sensitivity to 140% and disabled motion blur.

Early game enemies feel spongy, but once you unlock Crouton, you can get through most fights quickly by being strategic about which enemies you possess.

Yeah, the default sensitivity is quite low for sure... so low, it almost feels like there should have been a "quick 180 turn" shortcut available. Turning off motion blur definitely helps as well! You end up surrounded quite often in later fights, and so those two tips help make things much more manageable IMO.

Yes, best thing to do for now is to set the right stick sensivity to the max for the camera and invest in the skills that allows you to weave enemies or crouton that control them, this way you have more control in all of this chaos. But still, it's the first game when I that apprehensive when I know I have to fight. It's really not fun, more bothersome. And the worst of it are this optional ones were you get nothing out of it (+5 exp.... RIDICULOUS).

Thankfully for the studio, the story is good enough, without that I would have alerady uninstall it.

Combat is infuriating. Those HUGE delays after everything she does... And don't even think about being hit, that's straight ragequit to desktop. Why dodge has to move your character 10 meters away from enemy? Seriously, I refuse to believe this game was ever playtested.

If you're locked on, try forward + dodge.

Combat is tedious and repetetive. I got bored with the formula and changed diff from balanced to Story. I wish I knew about skip button. I would prefer more puzzles and platforming elements.
Combat is awful. Its very repetitive and the movement never feels right. It is very unresponsive. Do yourself a favour and set it on easy just to get through it quicker.

Everything else about the the game really good, especially audio and visually it is amazing.

Combat is about on par with Hogwarts Legacy or Banishers.
