Suikoden 1 - Walk/Run Speed
I play the game on the steam deck since release day. One of the things I dont like is how slow the walk/run speed of the hero. I played the game docked for the 1st time earlier today and was surprised that the walk/run speed became faster. Like 2x of how it was hand held. I thought there was a recent update that made it that way but turns out it just walks/runs slow when played hand held. Anyone else playing the game on a steam deck also experience this?

I felt the regular walk speed was slower than I remember. Like it feels slower since they added the run and diagonal movement.

That being said, played on Steam Deck and the Run speed felt fine.

It is slower to fit S2. You get back the og walk speed at the start when Teo is following you lol.
Hold down the cancel button, your character will run.

I figured it out. Playing hand held i have the fps limiter locked on 45fps. It is automatically turned off when i use the steam deck docked. Turns out the fps limiter affects your walk/run speed which is weird. At 60 fps his speed is now normal.

That's odd. On PS5 it's pretty slow too.

So, this is interesting because I felt the same way, like running on my Steam Deck (at 90 FPS) was slower than it was on my desktop (at 120 FPS), so I recorded a video to compare the two... but they're identical. It could just be an optical illusion since the amount of physical space the sprite moves is less on a handheld display than on a TV.

It's also possible limiting the frame rate to less than 60 FPS could affect it, but I haven't tested that.

Yes that was the thing. It runs normal at 60fps and above. It slows down as you go below 60fps. Compare his walk/run speed at 30fps and 60fps and you will see the difference.

i tell you another thing. do you know that you walk overall faster when walking diagonal on the overworld map then walking straight?

anyways, do it on 120fps, you will be surprised, you´re even faster.
with other words, this is nothing new and affects all games to some degree ... i mean the fps thing x3.
