Suikoden 2 Squirrels
So does anybody know the full requirements of these? I've seen videos of people just standing in place and they will eventually be added to the party but is there a certain point I need to be in the story to get them? I just got to Mose and was wondering if its possible to get them this early since I can already walk to Greenhill.

I believe you need to have previous squirrels with you and Riou only, nobody else.

A lot of people in the past have said they used Stallion in the party so i don't think you only need Riou. All the wikis and guides I have found said you only need an empty party slot and you can only recruit them in a specific order but not much else.
According to the guide I've always used:

117 Makumaku N/A Must have Mukumuku recruited. Wander the path between Two River City and Greenhill until Makumaku enters your active party. There must be at least one free space.
Castle Level 2

118 Mikumiku N/A Must have Makumaku recruited. Wander the path between Greenhill and Forest Village until Mikumiku enters your active party. There must be at least one free space.
Castle Level 2

119 Mekumeku N/A Must have Mikumiku recruited. Wander the path between Greenhill and the Forest Path to Matilda until Mekumeku enters your active party. There must be at least one free space.
Castle Level 2

120 Mokumoku N/A Must have Mekumeku recruited. Wander the clearing south of Forest Village until Mokumoku enters your active party. There must be at least one free space.
Castle Level 2

Note: the numbers are just their placement on the list of 108 stars.

I just had Riou and Mukumuku and just did it all in one shot after two rivers. It was the final one that took the longest (like 8 mins?) for him to join, but the rest I just went onto the paths farther from greenhill and only had to chill for a few minutes. You don't have to keep walking, you can just sit still. But they do have to be recruited in order as listed above.
You can sit still? Awesome.

Yes, I can confirm this. Already have every single one of them. For me, Mikumiku needed most of the time for joining me. I can also confirm: You don't need to have the hero as the only character aside from the squirrels in your group. I got some with other characters in my group. You just need empty slots, but you need to do them in the right order it seems.

In case someone want to see how it works accurately, you can watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ES_3JgJDAOs

Yeah, if you stand still, then you cut out the other random encounters, which means you can just afk for a while. Usually you won't *notice* the new member until a fight, but that doesn't mean they didn't join.

It's important to note that you cannot get the other squirrels until you have a level 2 castle. Don't be like me and waste your time trying to recruit them before you even have the castle unlocked.

I have a level 3 castle and I tried to recruit them but it's still not happening. I even did the cheat engine trick to speed the game up x500 and stood in place. I clocked up like 20 ingame hours and not a single fur buddy. Not entirely sure if it's unlucky or if there's other triggers in the story that makes them available.
I swear I've been sitting here for a half hour and I still can't get Makumaku to appear. Is there a specific spot that makes it more likely, or just "on the path between"?

I had Stallion in my party and ran through those towns until they joined. Like:

Run from town A to town B, if by the end of the road the squirrel didn't join, I went back to town A, entered and exited, to respawn them sort of speak. This worked for me and had them all in just minutes.
Is there a certain point in the game you have to be to recruit them? Because this is the first time I've had access to Greenhill; I haven't given Pilika the wooden amulet yet

There's no real harm in waiting until after Two-River. I made a half-hearted attempt to recruit the squirrels around the point you are but didn't get any, and wanted to continue the story so didn't really try.

I got the other 4 in less than an hour (Mokumoku being the most stubborn) but was being a genwunner and went to the paths with Riou only. Remember you don't need to trigger a battle, the squirrel just gets slotted in.
Leave the world map and return in between squirrels got them to spawn faster for me. Mokumoku just jumped in my party the second I walked over there without a fight or standing still.
