Getting choice between 1 life but more damage, 20% more enemy hp for coin chance, 25% more enemy hp for chest chance and being forced to pick one is more punishment than reward.
Hopeful relics get improved / balanced with the rest of the game :)
The berserker relic was decent before the nerf, now it's useless. Health on lv up is also nice for non-heal builds. The gold relic is okayish on Melisandre and for the 1 HP thing I didn't find a build, where it actually fits in.
So yeah, relics are not balanced at all imho.
Now it's +100% damage received and +15% damage dealt. I even pick it up now sometimes.
The only 2 that have a strong combo is: "set to 1HP +100% dam (pretty sure it was dam)" and "when health is under 20%(?) gain .... whatever damage%(i think 25%?)". Using those with E-shield.
the double damage works great if you have the shield beat the first stage using it. works wonders but absolutely garbage without decent shield.
I don't feel like those damage bonuses for her stack. I tried that on the first run, and yeah, I got some decent gold, but her damage didn't feel better. The sad thing is that she's probably my favorite character since I really enjoy scythes and she starts with them. Plus, it feels like the scythes were nerfed hard lol. I don't feel like any of the % damage boosts have an effect. The numbers don't change from them after stacking up a few. I've gotten to level 90 something, maybe 100 before, and just kept choosing damage as a boost when I could and never saw the numbers change. /shrug, just me though.
Holy cross doing a chill 19k dps at 12k gold.
I've never encountered anything remotely similar with the other characters.

I usually get the energy shield with 3 charges, but I tend to get hit often enough, that I loose slight portions of health now and than, which would be instant death with 1 HP. However, I also don't play that careful, especially in late game of a run, so maybe it's an issue of playstyle.
