Does This Use AI Artwork?
Someone told me it did and I'm not sure I want to support it if that's the case. I don't want to get into a huge discussion about the ethics of it, I just feel we deserve to know if that is the case.

There is no AI artwork in Nightingale.

Players can sometimes engage with parts of a video game that they do not enjoy if the game does not try to adapt the experience to the player’s preference. AI directors have been used in the past to tailor player experience to different people. In industry, AI directors are relatively uncommon and are typically domain-specific and rules-based. In this paper, we present a reinforcement learning-based AI director developed for the industry game Nightingale with the help of Inflexion Games. We ran an experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of the AI director in creating a desired player experience, but found inconclusive evidence. In line with this year’s theme, we present our negative results and their implications for future AI directors, along with general discussion from working closely with an industry partner.

so it has AI director at least.. generated ART who knows.. Feels like something you should address directly to the COMPANY itself.. not some STEAM FORUM =)
The whole "director" thing goes at least as far back as Left 4 Dead, though it's probably more an algorithm. I'm not against some use of AI in games, it's fine. I'm honestly still on the fence about its use for art assets. Wish the Tech Bros would go waste more money on NFTs instead of wasting my time here with their inane comments.

There will be plenty of people who desire authenticity from "real" artists and there will be a plethora of ways to prove authentic human produced art. However, as with many things hand crafted and authentic these days it will become elite and expensive. That being said unless you are exceptional, unique and proactive in securing authenticity, AI will assimilate and copy with no discretion. This is both an equalizer and a detriment to our society. Being fragile and thinking whining will stop this massive paradigm shift is rather hilarious and illustrates being pretty behind on how this has been progressing/building over the past several years.
I'm not "whining" I just asked a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ question.

And a perfectly valid one. Someone will always read a ton into it, and go on a rampage with their opinion about it.
Just ignore that.

I'm still on the fence even if the answer is "yes". I just. Want. To know.

AI is the future, if this studio isn’t using it, I’d be hesitant to even support them. Studios that leverage AI will produce higher quality games and narratives from time and cost savings.

As someone who uses AI locally on the regular Stable Diffusion comfy UI ect. It’s pretty amazing tech and the whole idea of stealing art is stupid artists steal from eachother all the time, in the forms of styles, and concepts and that’s what AI generates as well.

If you’ve ever even try training your own dataset and making a LoRa you’d know.

Be more informed.

steam has a strict policy regarding ai related stuff

devs are allowed to use ai related things as long as its strictly trained by their own content or completely free to use content, n not stolen content

so you wont have to worry about the games here on steam mischievously using ai to generate content or art

OMG are you being serious? This is a friggin VIDEO GAME. Have people's minds devolved so much that they are offended (or whatever it is) about "artificial intelligence" in a GAME that is FICTIONAL? Good lord, what is happening to this world?

I don't mean to totally blow your mind or anything, but I should probably warn you now... nothing that happens on your screen while playing this game is actually *real". It's just series of computerized code with lovely graphics reacting to the input of your mouse and keyboard. I repeat... it's NOT REAL LIFE. Sorry if this has put you into a complete meltdown.

To be a pinch of salt.. The point I suspect of the original author is not ' AI is bad an gonna kill my babies '.. its .. ' were people not hired.. or fired.. because they had some basic AI replace their work '.. Most developers are trash.. the army of support staff who work like dogs putting their all into what they make.. should be worried about. We dont need endless mobile trash.. cranked out by mechanical monkey's .. becoming the norm for regular PC games.. Is it a deal breaker for someone like me .. Not in the least.. Long as I am interested in said game.. but knowing.. could affect my choices.. a)dont pick it up in EA.. b)dont pick it up at full price .. etc..

To be a middle ground man here, a lot of people care about the ai art in media these days because it takes away from actual artists and gives nothing back because ai art cannot create anything new, it takes from multiple already existing sources and blends them together to make a weird collage of an image, if you google ai generated art you can even sometimes see the seems of the art where its meshed together.

If someone doesn't want to support a game because of this then that is their right, if someone else wants to play it because they don't care that is their right, throwing verbal jabs at each other over someone's choice to play or not play a game is just weird on either side.

Shouldn't you be off generating some Bored Ape NFTs or something?

C'mon guys, AI generation has come a long way but it's still pretty easy to tell the difference between AI content and real content. This is obviously not AI powered.

Lord people care about the wrong ♥♥♥♥, grow up. AI is the future
LukeRS Feb 20, 2024 @ 8:46am
Yes, the enemies have a very rudimentary AI, as do all games.
Jarvo Feb 20, 2024 @ 8:46am
what do you think procedural generation is fam? A whole lot of games you shouldnt play if "AI" bothers you
