The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition is an awesome game! Great graphics, cool characters and stellar story. I'm excited for the TOW 2! Highly recommended!

Fun for the first 15 hours then its mind numbing and boring. Worth it if you buy it for £10.

Solid proof that Obsidian of old is long gone.

Stay away from this version of the game, it runs like trash, 12th Gen i7, 32gbs of ram and a 3080ti and this game stutter like crazy, not to mention frame drops all over the place.

This does show what Fallout could have become, with some better writing.

If you have no stomach for satire, or satire of corporate life and corporate structures this is likely not the game for you. There are games that I love, that reward you for looking into corners, and leaving no stone un-turned. The Outer Worlds dials this to 11, and hides all sorts of fun in corners all over the place, some of which will and can directly impact the quests you are working on. This game is at it's absolute best when you get to be "Space Detective" - I will call out Eridanos for exactly this, in spades - and that detective feeling is quite rewarding as time goes on.

I've encountered this game now 3 times. Once on PSN when it was initially released, again on PC and once more in the Spacer's Choice edition. If you are picking up the Spacer's Choice edition at the time of my review, it works a treat. No need to worry about the initial performance issues at launch. This game is so worth every second I spent with it, and I plan on spending even more, while I impatiently wait for a sequel. I'll list my favourite "complaint" about games like this when I encounter them: I only wish there was more. More worlds, more characters and more things and cases to explore. It's so worth it.

I prefix this that I played this well after launch of the Spacer's Choice edition and encountered none of the technical issues mentioned by other users.

Overall, I would recommend The Outer Worlds (either version), its skill systems offer a level of variety and depth to build a character to achieve your style of play, whether that be the charismatic rogue captain with a quick tongue or quicker sidearm. The sneaky stealth characters rooting through computers or demonstrating a brazen disregard for private property. And of course, the "keep on smashing till the problems solved". It feels, and I appreciate this cliche given its lead creators, reminiscent of Fallout pre-4.

The setting blends sci-fi with styles of the early 1900s which presents an interesting world to explore, I often found myself staring at the advertisement artworks and the unique gun designs.

The story sees you set off to save Halcyon colony from the board and itself and sees numerous moral dilemma that usually leaves you picking the least bad shade of grey.

My only complaints of the game are that it felt that just as it was getting going, it came to an end. Whilst I enjoyed myself in the nearly 20 hours, before doing DLC, what could be considered Acts 1 and 2 had some meat to the bones to play around in. But as it approached the third and final act it all came about rather abruptly and rushed to the finish line. I suppose in a way it is good that I was left wanting more, but it feels a missed opportunity in this regard.

I did appreciate the addition of the "Slideshow" endings, detailing how my actions had lasting consequences.

An off-shoot minor complaint is the companions, for the most part I considered them all interesting banter machines but their personal quests, with perhaps the exception of Max and Parvati, felt noticeably short and to the point. I was more than eager to keep going and learn what made them tick, but they seemed dis-interested in that once I ticked their box off.

I look forward to seeing how they build from this with their upcoming sequel.
