Sams companion quest

I finished the game, hopeing I will get the 6th character along at some point. After I was dont did some investigation and found out that the 6th character was on teh ship all along.

I recruited him now but I dont know how to trigger his quest. Since Im quiet far or nearly at the end of the story, is it might impossible to get it now?
I saw some videos on youtube on how to pick it up but it requires to take some steps you usually take earlier in the game.

you need to interact with Sam, sure you won't receive any answer.
Ask Ada about Sam and she will tell you to check the pc in your room.
check the pc and you can find the info about sam and start the quest
