Can I kill both of them? And is there any order I should kill them in to inflict maximum suffering? I'm so sick of them both. Listening to them bicker between each other has given me the desire to torture both to death.

I think you can kill both but the sequence should be kill mother first, then kill minnie when you return to give her the diary, or blow up the lab kill minnie after.
