Black screen when launch

[GTA5Player [Perker]]

I get a black screen when I launch the game. The only thing that pops up is the cursor and when I go to task manager it says that the game is not responding. Anyone have a fix for this problem?

First time this game takes fully 5+ minutes to load to the main menu the first time you play. Shader pre-compilation but without any user interface to tell you that's what its doing.
I walked away, made a cup of tea, came back, and it was still loading, eventually a spaceship loaded, ran at about 1fps for a minute, then game was fine.

Edit: TL;DR - it's supposed to be like this, just wait and it'll start eventually. It'll happen first time you open the game, and every time you install/update video drivers

My man. Thank you so much. I am doing this on Epic and was about the uninstall the game out of frustration of not being able to try it.

I can confirm this still works feb 2025, I had a black screen and only cursor, waited about 2 minutes and now it works fine!
