Game crashes right after the InstaLOD logo

If you're still encountering the crash immediately after the intro videos, you can try disabling TAA in the config files. See here for detailed instructions: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Outer_Worlds#Anti-aliasing_.28AA.29

Adding these lines to the Engine.ini file got me past the crash and into the menu:

[SystemSettings]
r.PostProcessAAQuality=0

This does get me past the crash I was having but game now crashes while escape pod is falling through atmosphere

turns out it was probably my video card that was causing problems

I swapped out video cards and it works now. The only conclusion i can come to was it was an issue with older card.
