RTX 4080
Ryzen 5700X
Well, I paid for all features of the game so I want to see all of them, but I have no other choice. ;-)
Probably either a driver problem or a problem in the game. It's just strange that I have no graphics problems with other games.
So enough 'bugging other ppl'. I hope the devs will fix it in the future.
Just updated to 23.7.1 and the behavior persists, CTD and resultant driver timeout notification with SSGI on.
For posterity:
7950X
7900XTX
64GB DDR5 6000MHZ
PCIe 4.0 SSD
Nothing overclocked outside EXPO. No current issues with other games, system is otherwise stable.
Forza Horizon 5 had the same problem, playing on extreme would consistently crash on some parts of the map, Hitman 3 used to crash when enabling RTX, now this game....
And no, "just turn off this option" isn't a solution, the main reason I'm playing this version of the game is because I want to play with all the new graphical upgrades, including GI...
At least the game is honest with itself, Spacer's Choice edition, it is indeed a buggy, half-baked mess published by a greedy corporation...
Same GPU, latest drivers; keeps on crashing no matter if I have SSGI on or off.
That is likely a different crash issue then SSGI which from what I seen exclusively affects AMD users with RDNA2-3 cards.
I would say this re-release of game has some major stability issues on top as I also get random crashes on top of the SSGI issue (forced to have off atm).
INTERESTING enough the game is significantly more stable under Linux, but you miss out on some HDR benefits which can help on planets like Monarch. If you have Linux on a secondary ssd, maybe try running game via proton.
Also now that I lowered it to the nothingness regarding graphics seems to be more stable. But of course looks absolute garbage and waaaaay below my budget PC's capabilities.
Gonna keep looking for a solution, but thanks for the suggestion.
