Should I save my money now and skip this $20 patch, to buy a new one in 2028 for $40?

I don't think you will have to wait that long.
Reading the comments, there should be an imminent performance patch soon, hopefully under 10$

Yes. Don't pay $60 for a glorified patch. This version adds nothing to the original besides some minor graphical enhancemeothat could have easily been done through a patch.
