How well does the game play with only 2 players?

Semi-cooperative part doesnt get to play a super strong role in 2p, but its still very much playable.
In fact most games I played were 2p or solo :)

The semi-cooperative component may be a strong component. Without it, does the game feel hollow or would it be a better use of time to play a different game?

Totally depends on your personal preference. You can still do a fair share of plotting against each other 2p, but id say its a bit better 3p+.

That said, the boardgame version does have a full cooperative gamemode (which isnt present in this game (yet ?)) and can also be played solo. So semi coop isnt make or break in the game - at least for me.
