Would this game work well as a local (read Shared-screen) co-op game?
Hi folks! After MUCH success playing Wildermyth this way, my couch co-op group is looking for a similar experience in other turn-based games.

I've posted a similar thread in other games' forums and gotten some GREAT insight and other suggestions for similar games from some of the most awesome members of Steam's community and this game popped up as a potential candidate.

To get to the point: I'm looking for your thoughts on whether this game would (or maybe it did for you) work as a local (read Shared-screen) co-op game for say 2-4 people using a single controller in a sort of hot-seat mode. We'd just hand off the controller to a player who's playing one of the player's squad/party.

Do you think it would work well this way?

Some thoughts that may help:
- Is the use of a controller (specifically XBOX One) while playing the game officially supported at all? (i.e. no third-party tools, the UI is actually referring to controller buttons, etc). I know some games don't list support when they have it, and others list it though the experience... might not be great... so I'm asking those who tried it.
- Are there multiple characters (i.e. party or squad) for each level? Without it, the co-op feel doesn't much work.
- If so, how many characters do we typically control? i.e. how large is the usual party/squad size?
- Is it truly turn-based? I.E. we don't need to worry about dying, or running out of time, as we pass the controller off to the next person.
- Does the game start with a party/squad, so we'd all have our own character? If not, how long will we need to play before we all have our own character to control?
- Are there any long stretches of the game where less characters are available?
- Is there a LOT of management that would eat up time waiting for each player to be ready for the next encounter? i.e. does the player spend a lot of time in sections of the game that wouldn't work well as a co-op game? Note that we feel the time building a base in XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and the narrative and territory parts of Wildermyth were all perfectly acceptable between the longer, more co-op missions.

And finally:
Any other suggestions for games with turn-based co-op gameplay that you'd recommend for my group?

Currently the game neither has cooperative nor a hotseat mode. It can only be played 1p per pc, so for a 4p game youd need 4 copies. And semi-coop means each player will have secret objectives that might conflict with others and need to be concealed.

Nemesis plays in independent scenarios, you setup the regular game and each player controls his character. There are no elements beyond that, no base building, squad management, etc. there are 6 different characters with their unique decks and abilities for up to 5 players. During the game each player takes their turn where they control their character to explore the facility and find better gear, keep damages to the facility under control and is best advised to avoid confrontations with the aliens. All players need to work together to maintain the ship, but may have conflicting secret goals. In order to win, you need to fulfill one of your goals, manage to escape and… well survive.

Thank you for the info. It won't work for us at all, but it's good to confirm that with someone who's played. :)
