So I just finished RTE
Then I decided to go and beat with the same CAW again to max them out... only to realize all skills and stats I bought are reset. Why is it like that? That's so stupid! I get that the old games did the same thing, but this is one thing that should have been done differently.

The stats aren't lowered to 0 nor do you lose your skills when playing as actual AEW wrestlers, so why does it do this for CAWs when you have already finished it once? You don't want to grind all over from the beginning, you want to get those last stats and skills.

Can you please report it via the link in the following thread so QA/devs can investigate if this is intended behavior or not? Thanks.

I think that is intentional, I think they limit it for multi-player.

Even if that's the case, that's still just stupid. There's no reason why you can't enjoy this offline. For online, can't they just implement some system that balances the stats?

Easier said than done. This whole playthrough was on hard, and I wasn't able to get even close to a satisfying result for my CAW. I also won every match too, no losses. Not enough. The 3 way and 4 way matches were already very cheap on hard. On elite they're gonna be several times worse. All this ever did was kill all my motivation. You say they don't want us to have maxed out CAWs? That's a mistake. I just want to grind them out like a normal person, get them maxed or as good as I want them to be. I have no plans to take them online or anything, I just want to enjoy myself, have some fun. Clearly they don't want me to have fun then.

and thats STUPID. i can understand limiting it for online play. but offline mode i want the freedom to rank the fighters the way i want to.

cant even create my own outfit for Aubrey or Anna. stuck with generic outfits and only adding jackets.

Can you at least keep the stuff you grinded for your CAW if you don't restart RTE? If not then I'll just never play that mode as it'd be a complete waste of time.

Imagine grinding for hours in NBA 2k or something and losing everything. Was there any logic used in this thing at all? FFS the tag team matches force you to be controlled by AI.

I can kindof see it as interesting if they want to make sure that even pumped up CAWs have differences, but the problem there is that there's some very clear winners in the "you must pick these" department of skills, that hurts any option of that versatility.

I'd say if they want to make it a one-clear bonus they need to try to make some of the passives better, and especially make a reason you'd actually want more finishers/signatures when they eat at your stats and will all do the same damage as just spamming one finisher.

It could be interesting to do it that way, but it's not doing that either, so it's kindof the worst of both worlds.

Most importantly regardless of how they decide to do it, the game needs to explain how it works when you do a second run, because i'm somewhat worried of resetting CAW stats unless I make a new character, which sours repeated RTE runs.

This is a little disappointing. Hopefully they change this with a patch.
The problem with this is that moves are locked behind many skills, and having them reset restricts CAW customization freedom consequently. This is one of the game's design decisions I definitely disagree with. Doesn't ruin it for me or anything, but for those who want to fully max out their CAWs but also wanted to see different branching paths using the same CAW instead of others or other wrestlers, it's a detriment for sure.

Yeah it's a bit weird, noticed it myself at my second go on RTE with the same wrestler.

Oh, you keep all the stuff you grinded for. It's just that once you restart you have to start from scratch. Back to being a snail pretty much. As long as you don't finish the 2nd run, your CAW won't have a change in the stats.

However, you pretty much have to somehow get the perfect run and do it all in elite to get that perfect CAW you want. This isn't something just everyone can do. Singles matches, is definitely doable, but 3 ways or 4 ways are pure cancer. Oh and don't even get me started on the minigames. It's gonna be nonstop cheating from the AI... and you need to win those minigames.

As I already said, this killed all my motivation. I kinda have no desire to go back anymore. Bare bones CAW mode I can deal with, but if I can't even grind normally my CAW with the career mode I'm just done. I'm gonna use that link and see if it leads to anything from the devs, but I have my doubts. It's probably just gonna be a generic bot response that I get.

I like this feature, i hope it's intentional. It's also so that you can't have all the perks and points in there. I actually was afraid that if i start a new Road to Elite with my CAW that already finished it, that i eventually get to get every perks in there. Making her basically perfect, but then i can always limit myself as to what perk and stuff i should get. lol.

Anyway, it feels like a respec or some such. But much more interesting than paying certain currency or drinking a potion. :P

it's fun to play RTE with CAW as you work towards your stats. Just don't do the second run, why have a broken RTE mode with maxed out CAW. If you want to keep the stats just play it once with that CAW, for other CAW do the same. Eventually the game will have cheats, so you will be able to adjust your CAW to Max levels (not sure where is the fun in that tho)

Why not? I made the CAW, so if I want them to be broken with maxed out stats that should be my decision, not the game making decisions for me. As for cheats, I refuse to use any of that. Not like I could even if I wanted to anyway since I got the PS5 version.

That's lame. How am I supposed to make Omni-Man if he's not omnipotent? In Wrestling Empire I made an Omni Man with pure 400+ of muscle with max stats. In Empire, higher weight actually increases your overall tankiness so that Omni Man I made is so hard to kill that I could only beat him handicap matches of 3 or more people. Just like when he fought Guardians of the Globe. I was thinking of grabbing a copy of AEW FF today but the way the caw works makes it a hard pass. It's like a repeat of WWE Battlegrounds where it's near impossible to make dream rosters due to how crappy the caw is.

I mostly sim & book matches while keeping a record of wins losses. So I want to be able to book matches against all types of wrestlers. Where's the fun in it if they all suck & get knocked out by a weak-looking Orange Cassiday or Adam Cole Baybay? I like having absurd matches against Shao Kahn vs Goku (where the 5 foot nothing Goku destroys Kahn in less than a minute) or Omni Man vs the world. The AEW roster is already filled with jobbers anyway so why add more?

Nobody really plays competitive online wrestling games anyway. I'm not aware of such a scene so the prize pot must be low or non-existant. Balancing a wrestling game just sounds absurd to me, as if they shared the same fanbase as Fighting games. They don't because they don't play anything alike. Wrestling games revolve around stats & the combat in most wrestling games are qte animations that play itself. Wrestling games are closer to rpgs than they are to fighters.

In Fighting games, you actually have to learn to git gud. In every wrestling game including the widely "heralded" Fire Pro Wrestling, the action always revolves around stats that you level up, just like an RPG. The genre is not skill-based at all so it's joke to even pretend that it is when the fighting engine doesn't allow for such structure.
