Update 1.0.4 is live with bugfixes, changes, and French localization beta:

• Fixed an issue with event list not scrolling to newest item correctly
  
• Fixed an issue where responses would crash the application if the position was out of bounds
  
• Fixed an issue where a corrupt settings file would prevent the application from loading

• The 'Go To Last Item' and 'Say Again' commands were removed because they are redundant to the existing 'Go Back' and 'Repeat' commands and this limits the number of possible misdetections for user responses.
  
• Updated with latest MSFS SDK

French localization is now a beta feature. Changing to French in the settings tab will change the interface and all voice commands to french ones. The documentation now has a French version which is largely done with google translate so don't expect too much. If you have any suggestions to changes to the French translations please make a post about them. Big thanks to Nokeel [twitch.tv] for his help in translating and testing the French language features since I don't speak French.

German. To my surprise the second largest user base is from Germany so it makes sense to localize for German users.

I will also be adding a dictionary of phonetic aviation terms since many of the Text-To-Speech voices cant say common aviation terms like 'Stabilizer' and 'Pitot' correctly.

Some audio device options are also in the works to make it easier to tune the input to the application.

Update 1.0.3 is live with bugfixes, improvements, and a new default checklist:

• Fixes issues where saving checklists did not update recognized responses
  
• Fixes issue with checklist position when decreasing the number of checklist items

• Support for accented Latin script characters in preparation for French language support
  
• Improvement to response detection for words which sound similar or sound identical and have different spellings

There is a new checklist for the default MSFS BE36 aircraft. There are a few inconsistencies with it because of the inaccuracy of the simulated aircraft:

• Cruise power settings suggested are close but not exactly how it is reported in the manual as they are typically not achievable in the simulated aircraft
  
• Cruise checklist references EGT for leaning mixture, EGT is not present in MFD but there is no suitable alternative. We recommend leaning to desired fuel flow within nominal CHT temperature range
  
• Aircraft is missing Yaw Dampener which is referenced in several of the actual checklists
  
• Many systems are Inop inside the cockpit o they were not added to the checklist

Today SimVoiceAssistant is launching on Steam and I wanted to say welcome to any new users!

I wanted to say that, while there were beta tests done by a fantastic group of flight simmers who found all kinds of ways to break the software, SimVoiceAssistant was developed by a small team and we appreciate your patience while resolving your issues.

If you have any feature requests or default checklist suggestions post those as well. I will prioritize feature requests by simple popularity so if it has already been posted add your voice to it and that will bump it up the list. Checklist suggestions will be prioritized in order of whether or not the aircraft is available in the base simulator or one of the higher edition with the base game being higher priority and the later edition being lower. If you have a suggestion for a third party aircraft please post these as well but they will be low priority unless they are heavily requested.

On the topic of default checklists, I wanted to give a little insight into how I typically develop the checklists. I start by identifying the variant of the aircraft available in the simulator and then try to locate the Pilot Operating Handbook(POH) for that aircraft with as close to the model year in the game that I can find. If I can find one that matches with good accuracy I start creating the checklists against that POH as closely as is possible.

This can be challenging because sometimes the aircraft in the simulator and the real aircraft do not match up. When this happens, I typically try as best as possible to create checklists which bridge the gap between realism and remaining functional with the simulated aircraft. When there is a large disconnect I decide on a case by case basis whether or not to include a checklist item.

When an aircraft references another section of the POH I will only include some basic guidance as I cannot provide any performance tables for the aircraft. If you want to correct these items you should find your own copy of the POH and make a copy of the default checklist and edit it. When a third party developer, like Carenado, provides the appropriate tables with the aircraft(Either in the actual simulation or in documentation) I will simply reference these.

With all that said I want to reiterate that none of the default checklists should ever be considered aviation training. They are entirely for entertainment purposes and are in no way intended to represent the real world.

Aside from fixing bugs and implementing requested features there are a few things coming down the pipeline including:

• Hot Keys
  
• Additional Voice Commands For Use With MSFS

I am also currently developing a checklist for the G36 Bonanza included with the base game which is actually proving to be fairly difficult because of the difference between the POH and the simulated aircraft and the POH being fairly convoluted. But that should be coming down the line soon!
