Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Games profit it made...(hypothetical of course)
I just read Clair Obscur: Expedition cost roughly $6 million to make (take this with a grain of salt of course because you can't believe everything you read on the internet but lets work with this hypotheses anyway) and they are about to pass 3 million in sales at the end of the month means that the game would have turned a whopping $177 million off that initial $6 million investment.

One still has to take into consideration all the 30% that these various digital store fronts will take which could equate to over $50 million across all platforms but that would still leave them with roughly $124 000 000. Also remember we don't know the contract they signed with Microsoft to get the game day 1 on Game Pass (which could be anywhere from $20-$50 million).

Expect publishers to be chasing after them to purchase them, but I hope they stay indie. They have mastered unreal engine, they have a really strong team with excellent writers, if they scale their budget, just a wee bit, can you imagine what their next game will look like because this one is already so polished.

I pretty much see Sandfall going the FromSoftware route, where a good art style for characters and environments will trump the latest gee-whizz graphics.

You could say that this is inevitable that stories like this end up with companies ending up the very thing they were standing against at beggining, having FromSoftware as example. But Sandfall is still at the very start of the journey, so they pretty much could produce several more games of the same qualities before turning into corporate swamp.
