One thing I've never seen mentioned anywhere else
[Spoilers since end game stuff probably appearing.]

What was with the Paintress' heart? Verso never said anything about it once the manor disappeared. Additionally, I assume that was the Paintress herself at the manor of Old Lumiere? I assume it was just a lie from him as well, since if we had actually attacked what was likely the 'heart', then the barrier no longer would have mattered anyways. That whole sequence likely requires a second playthrough to fully understand.

Thinking back on it. I'm not even sure myself. The whole heart thing from what I recall get's dropped very quickly and once you are inside the story kinda just carries on. But I'm sure under the context of him lying to you to get you there by any means it makes sense.
It's possible he expected the group to fail entirely and thus not have to explain anything. He made a point of not befriending expeditioners to Esquie after all. His objectives didn't align with the expeditioners all that much in the first instance. So I would lean towards it being a lie yes.

I agree a second playthrough might give alot more context in the way that really well written stories do. One of those ah how did I not pick up on that detail moments.

I assume the "paintress heart" was the real paintress herself, it was a way to get them to kill her while asking minimal questions
Yeah i also have no idea what that was about. I actually have no idea what the teleporting manor was about at all

Now I want to know where the teleporting manor is, since first visit I thought it was 'our' manor being repurposed. Strange either way.
The Paintress' heart was the Paintress herself, you can see her during the scene in front of the manor in Old Lumiere, and that's who Verso was trying to "kill".

There's also a giant Paintress statue at the Monolith (and during the final battle), that's like her JoJo stand lol
Could be that or the soul-fragment of real Verso being inside. Given the writing issues, at this point its hard for me to say if there's more to it or its just a plothole or dropped plot thread and missed opportunity to make more out of the story.

I know I was disappointed to find the manor didn't contain anything story critical even in the main gallery room. Seemed like the perfect place to have some extra story related things that could say, lead to another ending.

There's also the other manor on the snow island that seems like it has some secret, but you can't do anything there(?)

I just replayed the manor fight in Old Lumiere in NG+ and this confuses me now. Verso wants to kill the Paintress' heart, which presumably will allow Renoir to gommage everyone ... then why was Renoir opposing them? And why were they all just hanging out at the manor? I feel like I missed something really important here.

You missed the fact that there are two Renoirs lol. Probably good that you're playing the whole game through again.

"Painted Renoir" with the eye scar that he shares with Painted Verso isn't the real Renoir.
Their personalities are the same basis with their "Do what must be done to achieve the goal no matter the pain it can cause"

Painted Renoir's only goal is to maintain the status quo within the canvas, as Aline painted him to do so, he just wants to live with the painted family and Aline in denial and he protects the paintress to keep that.

Real Renoir has the same level of drive and basic personality traits, it's just his goals are based in the real world and he must destroy the avatar of the paintress, so that his wife Aline is forced to leave the painted world so he can destroy the canvas so Aline is no longer driven to kill herself by overusing it.

the paintress as described inside the painting is the fusion of the immense statue+Alina and Alina is the heart, that's how I interpreted it personally

I think the final answer is the heart = the actual Alina/Paintress, and the confirming evidence is the fact that when you fight her during the second stage, there was a hole within the avatar where the heart would likely be. Aline would fit right inside.

also the fact that nothing happens in the first fight against the paintress statue confirms verso's version that <you have to beat the paintress heart first> (p1 with alina)

Its in White Sands - Its a small Island you can find when you fly around. It sits on top of a Mountain next to the Desert.

The Renoir you encounter wasnt Renoir - It was the Paintress "Creation" of Renoir, the version she would have loved to have to protect her. The "real" Renoir is the Curator in your Camp.
