I've seen other people play this section on streams, and what puzzled me is that some of them just completely stop in place before jumping, killing all momentum and thus reducing the jump distance. You have to jump while moving. A couple jumps even require sprinting. But the whole thing is mostly about hugging ledges to trigger the pull up animation, it's the main reason why I felt it was so easy, you can half-ass a jump and your character will still grab the ledge.
The reward is a swimsuit for Monoco, basically removes his fur and gives him a speedo and a life ring on the neck.
