What kind of game is this? Like dark souls, Final fantasy or Baldurs gate?
The reason I ask is because I'm thinking of buying it, but I hate dark souls. Bg and final fantasy though is ok. I hate dodging and rolling while having to learn all the boss moves etc.

The entire game is about dodging and parrying boss moves. That's the game. If you dont like that it's not for you

I see, that sucks for me. Seems like a hood game otherwise.
This is a QTE game with optional JRPG elements. The most important thing and the majority of the fun elements are in the QTE aspects, builds, stats, strategy are icing on the cake and will not let you finish the game as intended without dodge. You wiill NOT see the kind of freedom and in-depth characters buildings / strategy with BG or final fantasy level.

You can either enjoy the story with boring gameplay (as the RPG elements are optional, once you reduce the difficulty to the point you can win without dodge spamming, the challenges / fun are also gone) or keep repeating the same fights until you learn to dodge enough to survive.

If you hate dark souls, you'll probably have a bad time. I did at first. Then I found a mod that made the dodge/parry stuff much easier and then I was able to enjoy it. So, maybe consider that.

I think the dodge/parry is a lot of fun, if you don't like it, paly on the lowest difficulty. If you enjoy creating strong builds, you will get so strong in the midgame that you dont have to dodge much if anything at all on the medium difficulty either. It's only truly crucial on the highest difficulty from what I have seen. So don't let this influence you too much.

I'd say it's worse than Dark Souls. As mentioned above - it's QTE completely

Damn, guess it's not a game for me then. Nice profile pic though. One of my favorite characters in BG2.

It is not dark souls difficulty. Not even close, unsure why they have chosen to be dishonest about it.

The game has three different difficulty options, unlike souls-like games. Raging from easy (story mode) to reasonably hard (Expert). The hardest available difficulty does not come anywhere near Dark Souls difficulties.

Basic example of the last fight I was in prior to posting. This is the highest difficulty the game offers, so if you play on either of the other two difficulties, the game will be much easier than this.

If this were a dark souls fight, i'd have died many, many times over. Because I handled that fight terribly and missed most of the QTEs.

Not the best combat example, but it's the only fight I did very poorly on in my steam replay. And you see, maximum possible difficulty, then Lune and Maelle are built as glass cannons (absolutely zero points spent in defense and vitality). And I was still able to fail most dodges and still won. Verymuch not Dark Souls level of difficulty.

But it ***is*** harder than most games. Best thing you can do is check basic gameplay on youtube (from people who are not me, as I am not a content creator and do not do it well) and gauge if that's a difficulty you can handle or not.

Dodging and parrying will be important to the game, but the lower the difficulty you play on, the easier they are to do and the less important they are.

When I say that it's worse than Dark Souls, I'm not talking about difficulty. I mean that combat in this game is bad.
Dark Souls have classic Action RPG blocks and evades. Like in most other games. You have stamina, you can maneuver, postion, control etc.
Here we have pure QTE, which is annoying and lazy mechanic. Dark Souls is harder but it's combat is interesting, a meaningful. It has a fun gameplay.
In this game we have a good story but it's unpleasant to play.

The closest I can say is paper mario
The game gives you enough hints when it's time to dodge. Pay attention to the sound effects, which are often in rhythm with the attack. Try to recognise the time interval and you will know when it is time to parry.
You need to learn what rhythm the attacks have. Then it fits.
Give the game a chance.

The Hell are you on about? You can build a no dodge party on expert. It's entirely possible to not worry about dodging or parrying if you have a good build. Imagine, being able to customize your characters to perform how you want them to.

Before you make a "good build" to skip this mechanic you have to play as intended. So how long player has to suffer to completely forget about QTE?

I'd recommend trying it, and if the timings are too hard, get the mod on Nexus that lets you adjust the timings to down right ridiculous levels. Not sure I'd enjoy a game that I dont have to worry about losing, but others might.
