Petank HP or defense bugged?

I fought one of them towards the beginning of the game. It was tough, but I got it on like my 5th or 6th try.

But now I'm fighting the one in the stone weave cliffs and holy HELL is his HP bar broken.

My party is level 18. I'm breezing through every other enemy in the zone. I'm even playing on the lowest difficulty (never played this kind of game before so im not great at it). And his HP bar isn't moving an INCH.

At first he bugged out and stood still so I could fight him outside of the glowing platform. Ofc he timed out and escaped combat so I reset and figured it just bugged out. Guided him to the platform proper and tried again but nope. Still had RIDONKULOUS HP. I was hitting him with the 10stack marked overcharge, the virtuoso stance flurent flurry, the fire stained thunderfall, aimed shots at the glowy bit, parrying his explosions... Even hyper focusing all my attacks on him and killing the summons exclusively via parry (which I'm getting better at doing)

I googled what the deal is with petanks and didn't find anything that lead me to believe I was missing some great secret. They all just said some variation of "you have a time limit, use your highest DPS attacks". Which I assure you I'm doing but the furthest I could get his HP bar down is maybe 3-4% before I run out of turns. It wasn't even CLOSE. I did so little damage I nearly had to squint to see the 3 pixels of health missing from his hp bar.

I found nothing on the internet suggesting I'm supposed to come back at a higher level, so I turned on cheats and one shot it. Can confirm it dropped some good loot and xp, but NOTHING that warrants having an HP bar so huge there's no mathematical way you could defeat it before level like.... 60.

Is this a bug or am I simply missing something very obvious cus I never played a game like this?

I feel kinda stupid now.

Well the battle message literally says something along the lines of the Nevron protecting it soo...

Battle message?

I thought it said something about it summoned a nevron ally. I don't remember reading anything I would've clocked as a mechanic.

Makes sense now that you highlight it, but personally I think "summons another nevron to protect it" doesn't do enough to indicate the defense mechanic.

I interpreted that as "Oh, protect as in help out with the fight. Try to kill me first, split my aggro, etc.." Not "his mere existence makes the petank immortal"

I messed that fight up as well. Figured it out too late in the fight and he escaped with just a sliver of health.

Every petank has a gimmick. If simply attacking isn't doing much, look in other places.

Yeah but that can be read as he summoned a Nevron to protect it as in he summoned one as a bodyguard.
