Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

How are you all building your characters?
So you can assign stats however you want. How are you guys deciding who to give what stats?

I dump most of mine on agility for everyone, so get faster turn speed.
im maxing out 1 attribute for each character so for lune im leveling her agility all the way to 100 and might for gustave
your stats depend on the weapon you're using. The damage scaling you get for building those stats is dramatically larger than otherwise why you get so many resets. Generally Might/Agility/Luck are all solid with Agility probably being the most important as if you get enough speed with first strike you can go twice before enemy even attacks. Vitality and defense are rather useless as everything will just 1 or 2 shot you anyway dodging and parry are just simply required. Only really go into those if your weapon scales off them as itll increase damage regardless if stat does or not.

so TLDR best thing to do is figure out your weapon early you want to use and invest in it as leveling weapons increases scaling rank and has huge power gains every level and the resource is scarce in the early game and build your stats off that weapon. Most characters best weapon ( depending on build you wanna play I guess ) can be found in Act 1 with a couple late game exceptions.

I just go off of the scaling for the weapon I'm using. I'm curious if it's worth putting points in might vs the scaling attributes. I haven't checked the math.
I gave everyone weapons that scale with vitality and defense. I distributed all points equally between strength, vitality, and defense. I also use Lumina, First Turn (it's enough if a character has it), auto protection, critical burning, and instead of parrying, 1 AP for each hit taken, plus some for more damage, etc. I play in story mode with auto QTE and only dodge occasionally. I play with healing.
Started with high defence, now I even out all the stats across the board so that they can use any weapon
I guess changing weapons shouldn't really be done that much.
40 in all stats is what I've done thus far, hardest hit with Lune was 1.8 million, which hilariously, didn't kill what I hit it with xD.
I've been keeping Luck, Agility and Defence pretty even and higher than Vitality which is much higher than Might
I just dump stats on the ones my current weapon is using....that being said vitality is a must no matter what
Simple answer is to pick a role for everyone and put in the appropriate stats. Everyone can function within a specific role with the right skills and pictos, so it hardly matters who you assign to what, although they each do their jobs in different ways.

That being said, likely the most inflexible is Gustav early. I built him like a tank with vitality and defense, but he really only has a couple okay-ish support skills early on and a lot more focus on damage.

As another example, Lune has arguably the best healing access, but also has abilities that hit like freight trains as long as you crit.

And then Maelle is there with a fleet of team buff abilities and an actual functional taunt/martyr ability, something the other crew members lack, while also similarly having access to impactful damage.

So regardless of how you build your team, you can slot them into a role and the weapons allow you to get some damage scaling out of your stats so you aren't ever stuck with someone who just can't hit hard at all even if you don't invest all in on damage.

That being said, agility regardless of class is an appreciated stat. And theoretically you could just turn your whole team into tanks and find whatever weapon scales with both vitality and defense for each one and call it a day. That's probably the safest bet, but... also kinda boring, lol
You only need damage cause dodging is gonna do the rest for you
Agility, might, and luck are my main stat dumps
glass cannon mael build. Just stack all damage increase possible range or melee, 2 shields when low hp, 100% critrate and Sciel skill to pass turn back to Mael. You can get a 100% critrate with talismans and lumines, so I had around 20 points in luck and all rest in strength.

maelle is my buffer / single target fire dot stacker. lune is a mayhem build with aoe builders and backup healer. sciel is my primary healer and has strong st and aoe. pictos wise i do 75% more counterattack dmg, heal on counterattacks and parries (i never dodge) and am high AP generation on all 3 chars (ap on parry, double basic attack + ap on basic, ap on fight start, ap on turn start) keeps the skills flowing freely. the game is completely trivial to me rn. i've defeated renoir/paintress and have my white-haired maelle.

i haven't used the dudes much, i'll build them next playthrough unless i need them later in this one idk.
