Remarkable resemblance
I fail to see how the addition of such a setting could hurt anyone.
If it happens: Awesome
If it doesn't: Well, people with disabilities or older people will have to sit through braindead battles, which isn't optional but still allows people to watch the story unfold.
It's a bit irritating how some people could feel hurt on a personal level by other people posting the mere request.
I'll take a flat reduction in damage in lieu of parrying mechanics anyday.
Depending on the attack, you also have different cues. Some attacks are better to parry by sound, others are better to parry buy visual cues.
It's not a souls-like, it's a Lies-of-P-like. Every enemy has a weird, cryptic wind-up that you can't properly tell the end of and that takes like 2 seconds, followed by a 5-frame-attack.
Souls games actually give you visual clues when to react, and even the music is designed to be in sync with the bosses. Which was literally why so many people struggled with Dancer of the Boreal Valley in DS3 - she was the only boss that fights with a 3/4 rhythm, so players subconsciously were thrown off balance. THAT is how you design clean games around parry and dodge.
LoP and this game derive difficulty from these spring-loaded animations that are impossible to actually react to on the higher difficulty and you have straight up memorize them.
