Yes, You can actually kill it early if you spend 40 minutes parrying it.

Do not recommend.

Haha, it seems parrying needs some tweaking xD It's either story mode or wasted time on learning animations, no middle ground :D
I did it after 6 hours, i'm dumb hahah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_i-M4xkfWs
You and me both.
I dunno, just beat it after 23:10 only dodging. Dodged 173 attacks. Gained 60k exp, whole party from level ~10 to ~15, lol.

I mean that is how it's intended so not sure what tweaking is needed. Parry is high risk and high reward, the game wants you to either spend a lot of time getting to know it perfectly or just rely on dodges and regular attacks.

Agreed that it would be pain to have to do near frame perfect parries for nearly an hour just to take out one enemy but hey nobody is forcing us to fight the thing, it's secluded in its own cave out of our way, playing with its sheep.

What i meant is the difficulty tweaks. Because it's very stressful on normal difficulty to time parries, i dont even want to imagine what it looks like on Expert.
Yeah, parry needs to be easier, or better telegraphed. Currently the window is TINY, and its not clear WHEN that window is. I spent about an hour learning attack timing on the first chromatic lancer. God that was frustrating. It need a flash, or ping or SOMETHING to make it clearer when the attack can be parried. Otherwise, you just have to smash your face against the wall until you get it. Admittedly playing on hard, just because I am stubborn that way.

I don't know I've gotten useed to it by now that I managee to parry brand new attacks semi regurarly now. The sound cues are a big help and the general pattern of delay from slow/fast/strong/jumo/chargee attacks.

Parry and dodge times are the same on normal and expert (150ms for parry and 220ms for dodge) , only difference is the amount of damage you take and enemy HP
I found it one of the easiest to deal with. Regular attacks have a pretty easy tell, just after the sword like thing appears is when you should parry. The spells are a 1.2.3 pattern just count it out and parry on the 3.
I just went in to try Abbest roughly every 5 levels, each time learning a bit better to time my parries to its attacks and seeing roughly how much damage I'm dealing. Think I ended up killing it when I was around lv20 after being done with most other stuff on that section of land. Playing on normal, difficulty seems fine. The game warns you of high level areas and optional stuff is a good bit harder than when you just follow the story. Feels like a good mix of feeling powerful in any main encounters but still able to find challenges with the optional bosses.
I changed the speed of two of my characters so I could get the turn advantage and got his ass lol

Big difference between doing it at lvl 4 with 2 characters and lvl 10+ with multiple...
You could've just grinded a bit in the arena and solo'd him. Then again I never understood the enjoyment some people get from low level runs:steamfacepalm:
