Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
How on earth do you time parries?
Practically impossible.. I think I have gotten 1 out of 20 vs the girl in sparring (harbour).
No idea as to the correct timing.. will probably wait for cheats before I sink more time in this.

A lot of practice. I failed so many times against Maelle.
OK so her animation is sword upright and then the pull back to swing.. just as she has finished the pullback and is about to swing seems to be the timing..
Forget parrying the combo.. at the moment :D
isnt there an option to auto succeed QTE? I was reading a review that said that
What worries me even more is that I can already tell it’s only going to get worse when you’re up against multiple mobs—especially if they’re different types. It’s hard enough to deal with one, but juggling different patterns and timings? That’s just chaos.

Yes, in the Settings, Last Options TAB...

Its rough honestly and each fight you go against you will have to learn the animations so I imagine there will be a lot of die and retry. atm I switched to story mode so I can enjoy the game without getting mad about trying to deal with dodge/parry stuff. It's a really pretty game with great music and an interesting plot :) I am struggling a bit with enjoying the combat but thats not a reflection on the game
Your only option is story mode. QTE for defense are not automatable. only attack ones.
I think it's supposed to be based on judging when you're going to be hit (which is why there's so many minigames in the prologue to give you a taste for how different enemies will do it).
The long delays are what throw me off. The run up, pause, wind up, hold, THEN swing throws me off every single time.

You can turn off the QTEs for your skills, which if you mess up does greatly impact their efficiency (Gustavos 1st skill is like 1-2 hits if you mess up, but 5 hits if you succeed?)

You can't turn off QTEs for Parry/Dodge though.
it seems very off and weird on the sister but in act 1 most enemies seem to have easy patterns on parries. It became much easier I do wish they'll add accesibility to automate parry and dodge qte. so far it's just skill QTE I think.

Exactly and i really don't like it. And the attack pattern switches also. i tried a few times to get a feel and i was shocked, it's really mentally exhausting to do this for the next 60 hours.
They are possible, you must observe and learn, its like dance, when You got a rythm you will be okay.
I hate QTE but im doing allright and find combat in this game cool.
You gotta learn the attacks to know when to parry. You can listen for sound cues so you can parry easier, atleast that's what I do.
Honestly, it seems like a l9t of people will have to learn timings pretty quickly. Most reviewers were saying the opening hours were easier but it definitely scales up in difficulty that even on easy, some optional end game bosses and story bosses will one shot you if you don't have parrying and dodging down.
Well this game is so much like old Another World. Its fascinating work of true ART.
