As for the pre-order...how much cheaper are we talking if you get it via a third party? Steam already has it for $45, which is cheaper than a lot of other games on the market.
The particular deal I have my eye on is through Greenman Gaming. I have a loyalty discount, so it's down to $35.99.
I've rolled the dice on games before, most recently Monster Hunter Wilds. I have the Minimum Specs for that game, and it ran (mostly) fine on Low-to-Medium settings. I have the lower end of specs for Clair Obscur, as well, but I doubt it is as demanding and not-optimized as Wilds. Helps to be a singleplayer game, for one thing.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that, even if my PC doesn't run it 100% stupendously right now, I'll presumably be able to in the future when I upgrade my gear. As such, I'm okay with taking the chance that it won't work come next Thursday; after all, I can just...buy it again, on PS5, and play there lol. I also feel that paying the "intended/provided" price of $45 is more than fair already, and is worth considering for a studio making their first game, one that seems by all accounts to be amazing. Not everyone can/wants to do that, though, so I'll stop rambling now.
