Or watch a "Lets Play"
Or don't, as you don't seem that interested in it in the first place.
The writing is very mature you're safe from the American "writers", this was done by passionate French professionals not corporate yankee nepo-babies.
Clearly I'm interested since I asked for information about the game.
I know that for chronic consoomers like you it's hard to grasp the concept of asking questions about a product without getting spoiled before buying it. The fact that you replied with a passive aggressive comment and went on the defence as if I was attacking the game proves that you're so incredibly insecure about consuming entertainment and see it as a cult.
I don't think the dialogue is super special, but its not bad and the delivery of it is generally top notch. And the music is great but never felt like it was trying to force the scene.
The LARGE majority of players seem to love the story and the plot twists.
There is a small subset that got upset because the story did not go like they wanted.
As someone who played every major RPG and JRPG of the last 40 years and played those games since the very early 80s, this games story, how its constructed and presented is easily in my top 5 all time. EASILY.
Again, you are free to have your opinion. I disagree.
Still, best written / acted game I've seem since RDR2
It's not Disco Elysium tier - nothing is - but it's vastly superior to any FF
I do like most FFs mind you, but this is on another level entirely
The delivery & pacing of the dialogue is immaculate
FF6 suffers from having the graphics and audio + music of its day. But if it was delivered today faithfully in top tier graphics, voice acting, and music like Expedition 33 is it would blow people's socks off.
The gameplay itself is also somewhat fresh, it definitely plays like a JRPG, but characters are built more like a mix between western RPG's and dark souls mechanically. Skill trees, assigning stats, so on and so forth. There's also a more meta strategic layer that feels a lot like Magic the Gathering, if you've ever played that. Like, how you play one card and it procs 6 other cards you have on the field that proc different effects from your enchantments and suddenly you deal 4000 damage to your opponent's 20 hp pool.
