Name the game "Clair Obscur" that sounds way more like some fantastical RPG then "Expedition 33" which is a terrible title for any game, much more so an RPG.
Am fine with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Whether that gets shortened as COE33 or temporarily called Expedition 33 on gaming discussion circles or something else, dunno yet.
Clair Obscur by itself brings up a Turkish movie.
Expedition 33 by itself, NASA's Expedition 33.
If the company wants to keep the brand and tell a story that isn't about Expedition 33 in the future, they can do so with the Clair Obscur and a different subtitle instead of having to keep Expedition in their title.
In art, chiaroscuro is the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition.
Expedition 33 sounds generic as hell.
But the average person is definitely not going to know that "Clair Obscur" is a French painting term, even if it fits the game.
My main point is the two phrases just don't really gel together.
The same as "Shin Megami Tensei" most people don't even know what that means. But it's the name of the main franchise. People just call it SMT or Persona. No need to make things English.
Shin Megami Tensei rolls off the tongue and sounds fine.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, another game I really like, reads mysteriously and interesting for instance.
But this game's title and subtitle don't really fit together, in my opinion.
In retrospect, I understand I threw out a more unique part of the title for a generic one, but I guess the generic one stuck with me more because the trailer ended with the voice-over emphasizing it with the title drop.
The game being voiced and sub in english is not enough for you.
As a french i have enough of some of your behavior.
We "french people" will not have our langage dubbed in this game, because english is more international.
And i perfectly understand why but still, it pissed me of because we have great french actors and i would love to see it happening.
But no, because tight budget i suppose.
So yes when i read this kind of ♥♥♥♥, i lose my mind.
It's never enough for some of you
Just because the title doesn't suit your tongue you want it changed...
So typical of some american people
