Is this worth playing over the old free version?

i played this game years ago but never finished it. i wanna get back into it now and i'm wondering if this remake provides a better experience than the original

Music is much cleaner, widescreen support, gamepad support, , and it looks great! Plus it's supporting Kouri and he did a good dang job.

Consider this version a major update -- or, the "full version" -- of the free version.
If you know you're going to like the game and are willing to spend the money, then go ahead. It has a few extra endings and features that I think are pretty neat, so at least when it comes to that I'd say it's worth it.

It's 100% worth getting. I was a huge fan of the original but the quality of this surpasses the 13 USD pricetag. I'm honestly baffled at how amazing it is, and there are new elements that make the game experience that much better!

I don't believe it replaces it, but I can still recommend it with the original.

I would say yes. The original was one of my favorite games. This remake updates and adds quite a bit. I think they are both worth playing though.

The remake is a polished version of the original, along with version 1.04's extra content (1.04 of the original game). Some puzzles have been replaced by new ones and the endings' requirements have changed.
I'm actually having a hard time going back to the original version now that I've played the remake.

It's also worth noting that the MP4 video which wouldn't work sometimes in the original version now works properly. It's a minor detail, but that's one glitch you won't have to worry about.

It's a quite great remake, most stays the same but with many improvements, mostly on the graphical side and the inclusion of the "Garry button", giving a new look on the stuff that makes for a better experience, Garry has a reaction for a LOT of events

Extra endings, you say? I saw that YASUpochi was uploading the entire soundtrack for the last ~4 months and I've been jamming, which made me want to revisit the game since it's been years. I was on the fence since I didn't know if the story had changed at all, but now I'm more interested! Thank you!

Necro-posting, but while the original free version lacks the QoL changes the remake has, the original has harder puzzles, in case you're looking for something challenging.
