Bear attack
Really fun game, but... I collect raw materials, I build, I build, I build... I have 6 villagers, tons of food, raw and baked, I build new buildings and improve the ones I already have... All it takes is a bear attack and it's practically the end of the game, onle death, me and me villagers... I won't mention that he destroyed the buildings that took me so long to build.

So what, the game is about building, building, building... until the bears attack ? the weapon is weak and the bow, it's not worth talking about.

All skills are weak if you don't level them... You can train in the barracks or the archery range to level... The bear can be killed if you take your time and bait his attacks, then get one swing in and repeat. I advise you to use the two handed club or better, or you can level bow skill and use bone arrows to weaken him before you try melee.

What you said is true, I just killed the Bear along with 6 NPCs that I left training. The Bear's life fell very quickly. I think the biggest problem is that there is a time limit to prepare which is only 15 to 17 days.

I just killed the bear with the help of all my npcs. It was pretty much easy. Learn how to play.

I agree with you, but I enjoy the time limit. It forces us to prepare. I know some will not enjoy it, but really it's the pressure we need to prepare for even worse challenges to come. Also I hear the bear visits every year, so don't let your guard down vikings!

Aye, this is a SURVIVAL game. And on your first run you might waste alot of time and make alot of mistakes that make it harder to succeed and recover. Most other "survival" games either don't threaten you at all or scale it to your level so that as long as you don't massively screw up you basically can't take real damage. I think Aska and 7 Days to Die are the only ones that really go for the throat and make you respect the threat of the game world.

But it can still be overcome. I went into first winter with no farm, no clothes, and the bear killed 4 people (2 because I died to it twice). Then I lost another the next attack because I was still recovering. I had to focus down for a bit to dig myself out of that hole but it was definitely doable and I survived winter (barely) despite no farm/huntsman/fishing hut/clothes.

I really like the game, only these random attacks are a bit annoying. Nice idea with buildings and their expansion, but all this requires a lot of raw materials and time. Not only that, the village is growing rapidly, by building more buildings, we enlarge the village, It's hard to build it with walls because the building system is bad. Not only are we building the wall in pieces, each piece of wall requires a lot of raw materials. Additionally, if a wall or building is damaged during an attack or during a storm, the best raw materials are needed for reconstruction. Not to mention, if the building is demolished, it has to be built again.
I like the expansion of the buildings, such as the warehouse and workshop, but over time the willagers get stupid and don't bring in the raw materials. In the beginning, the herbalist brought flax fibers, but over time the storehouse became filled with only seeds and feathers. I don't even know if you can destroy any resource in the game, because when I throw away seeds or feathers, villagers bring them back. And there comes a moment in the game when there are still no ropes.
These random attacks make me even afraid to stray too far from the village, because either mobs will destroy my buildings or kill villagers. Ordinary walls simply make no sense, there should be some spikes or something.
Nice game, but these random mob attacks and storms are annoying.

BTW. I survived the bear attack only because I dragged it out of the village and it ran after me, and in the morning the bear simply retreated.

I killed a bear at first night with a bow without even making a first campfire and creating an Odin's eye. Just make yourself 30-40 arrows (and probably a backup bow just in case)

The answer is right in front of you from nearly the start of your village: the barracks. Use it to bulk up on melee for two days and never worry about invasions again. Or just keep giving up like you are it's up to you

The bear attack needs to be moved to much later in the game. On my first play through it killed me and destroyed my entire camp. I pretty much quit the game at this point.

lol how? I AFK'd it last night on my current playthrough because I was cooking and I only lost 1 villager. My villagers solo'd it on their own. Didn't even have a barracks or militia or archer yet.

I'm not sure how people are struggling with the Bear Attack.

By day 10-12 you should have a barracks or at least militia.

You can take down the Bear with 5 or so villagers and you may lose some but the Bear is a test to see how well your village is doing.

You can literally just bait it into hitting one of your cottages (if you don't have a cottage yet the bear is the least of your problems) and the villagers will pour out like ants and fuack it up with their tools.

for melee its you want to a two handed weapon
Dodge the initial attack(its a charge jump)
then get in close bait an attack (will usually hear a grunt)
dodge roll to the side
attack
dodge roll to the same side
attack
repeat till stamina is low
then just walk to the side around the bear
dodge when you hear the grunt
when stamina is full repeat

with low tier weapons you may not be able to drop it before the time expires, but metal weapons will.

1 min bear tutorial - day 1 with a basic wooden club. Bear has three 'phases' which once understood make it meals on (clawed) wheels.

I'm not calling you a liar, but when exactly did you do that? I built too close to a Smolkr territory, yesterday, cursed myself, then made a bow and twenty arrows. I shoot Smolkrs for 4 to 6 damage - and they have like 100hp. I am going to go out on a limb, here, and declare you will not kill a bear in your first night with bow and arrows, on the current patch. Needless to say, I abondoned that save, and started over.
