Has anyone managed to capture a wolf pup?

I went to a wolf den which basically looks like a stone with a hole underneath and two weird straw structures in front of it which I can damage - any idea what this is about?
I put the trap there with meat inside after killing 5 wolves but never found a pup inside the trap.
Am I in the wrong location?

You are in the right location. Place the trap, activate it, meat inside.. walk away. Eventually you'll get a notification a wolf pup has been captured. This can take a day or more though, so be patient. :D

Leave it armed (little door open) and baited. Go do other things. It'll give a message when the pup is caught. You can also see it on the map when you bring it up so check your map here and there after and then go retrieve it. Take too long and the cage will break, but you seem to have a pretty long time before that happens.

Ok thanks a lot for the info! I haven't assigned a worker yet to the kennel, do I have to do that before that or can I still do it?

You'll want to pretty quickly because they feed them and if you dont feed them I think they might even turn on you. (haven't had it happen yet, it's easy to avoid).

i've found same locations and i cant even build the trap to do any of it.

You need to have build the Kennel before you can build the trap. It says so in the info when you try to build it.

thanks captain obvious, i had already had a kennel and no matter what trying to build the trap near a wulfar den would not work.

Build trap at village bait it. You got to leave it at front of den. Run in drop trap activate it run out.

You can build the trap anywhere as long as you have the materials on you. 8 Rope and 8 sticks I think. You will hold it in your hand then, it is a large item. But you don't need any workbench. Just as crafting tools.

However you guys seem to be lucky, my traps always break. Out of 6 traps I only managed to secure one pup. I get the message that I heard the trap sprung, open the map and immediately it says "destroyed trap". I was less than 10 seconds from the spot but still...the pup escaped immediately.

well when ever i tried to build the trap is said i was missing the den so idk

You got to place it in front of den door. Build it bait it in village run to den door drop trap activate it by pressing e or r i cant remember and run out. Check it daily because the pups can break out of trap. Sometimes it take 1 day but can take more. I got 5 pups in my party.

yeah i was up in the dens taint trying to build the trap at the den .. but ill be trying again. my playthrough got wiped out cus of a series bad events. so take ... 4

u got a pic of what the den (and front) of it looks likke , maybe i'm getting it wrong and just at random wulfar spawn points

If you look at den the big piles of brown are the back if you kill those the boss spawn. The front is opposite side of that. Ill get a pick for you when i go in.

got it to work, you actually have to be like right in the dens taint to be able to actually craft it.
