For those expecting a great Ratchet game - go back and play Future Tools of Destruction - avoid this.

This game is about 35% Ratchet, and 65% diversity. A brand new character has been added which the game almost entirely centers around her story - and - I wanted a Ratchet and Clank game. I know I know, my expectations were too high.

It's not as bad as Metal Gear Solid 2 : Sons of Liberty in terms of the bait-and-switch, but it definitely has that vibe.

The story is actually quite sub-par overall, and it's almost like the neon colours of the game have blinded reviewers to the truth.

Is it fun? Kinda. Is there replay-ability? I'd say no, not this time around. The big part of the Ratchet and Clank games have always been the weapons - the weapons have always stood apart, with the story and the incredible humor being judged separately. The weapons in this game are nowhere near as fun and enjoyable as previous weapons in the series - and even the Ultra RYNO, once built, is a huge let-down.

I've been waiting for a Ratchet and Clank game for so long - it was 8 long years between the ending of the Future games in 2013 from when this released. This game scratches an itch that many games don't seem to do for me, and I was super let down.

Side note : I got a permanent life-time ban for dare speaking out about my feelings on this game on the Ratchet and Clank sub-reddit, along with a recent 24 hour temporary ban from the Ratchet and Clank forums here on Steam - may you live in interesting times indeed, eh?

This game is not good. It's NOT a Ratchet game. It's Ratchet & Clank : Cameo edition. And with all the negative feedback on the forums right now for this game due to poor optimization, perhaps we also need a friendly reminder that this game, it's a 6 at best.

I don’t agree at all. this is one of the better Ratchet and Clank games it’s much fun. you are you upset you play as a different character sometimes. And you still annoyed about mgs 2 WOW

Hmm... I don't really care who I spend more time with, whether it's Rivet or Ratchet, the fun factor is the same as in the early ratchet's and we can only be happy that we're finally getting a Ratchet & Clank on the PC.

I have to say I have been somewhat nervous about this game, though not enough to not preorder. The main question for me is that of a 'Ratchet and Clank' game where the central characters aren't 'Ratchet and Clank'... I think i'll be pleasantly surprised though, I'm just kean that they do respect to the series so far

Okay i truly feel like you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. 1st is that you said Metal Gear 2 : Sons of Liberty, it's metal gear solid 2 not metal gear(metal gear is different and was made in the 80's/90's. 2nd Rac acit had way more gameplay with just ratchet and you had with clank, so should've that game been just called Ratchet a crack in time? and that also applies to quest for booty too, that game had no clank being apart of the gameplay at all. so should that have been called Ratchet: a quest for booty? honestly maybe, not that it would've mattered anyways

Whilst it's a little sad to see these weird copy/paste comments (congratulations on not having an actual thought of your own), I do respect your freedom to be so egregiously clownish.

I've at least posted something fairly articulate, and for those who think this newest game after 8 years of waiting is actually superior to the Future series, respectfully, you're sorely mistaken.

It's just a shame that the #PCMR community is just posting copy/paste comments - however a brainless comment section doesn't truly surprise me. Just disappointing.

This is my take on Ratchet & Clank franchise:
- first 4 games on PS2 = great gameplay, funny and endearing characters, a story that's not deep but is very entertaining, even today
- PSP Ratchet = still has the spirit of the PS2 games, but it's a noticable downgrade in every aspect, still pretty fun to play on the go
- PS3-PS5 Ratchets = gameplay is still great, arguably even better than the PS2 titles, but the characters feel like half of their soul and charisma has been sucked out and replaced by stereotypical Pixar/Disney personality; the stories have shifted more into a serious tone, and the comedy isn't nearly as great as in PS2 era.

I'm going into Rift Apart mostly to experience the graphics and fun gameplay. I already know the story and characters will be mediocre compared to PS2 era R&C, so I'm not expecting much in that department.

When developers were afraid to add female characters in the '90s until around the time Tomb Raider came out, they were afraid most gamers were as deranged as the "things are only diverse if it's forced for an agenda" loony bin brigade that spews their bile everywhere these days.

Imagine if Xanadu, with muses of all kinds of colors, came out today. It's sad.

Also, judging from the tone of the first post, the ban wasn't for speaking an opinion, unless that opinion was unhinged extreme right propaganda.

Some people genuinely think that, but do not understand when people get inundated by loony conspiracy theory stuff or the wretched hatred of sexist/racist echo chambers, they tend to pattern their speech in ways that make it obvious. Usually all it takes is for them to get angered just enough before the racist/sexist rants spew forth, and the pointy hood comes off so to speak.

The bans are usually either due to that sexism/bigotry seeping forth or due to overt rudeness to other posters. And people far enough down the rabbit hole start to see rudeness and cruelty as virtues, and being punished for them is "censorship."
